The essential boot for full day hikes and weekend backpacking trips.

You want a boot that can handle seasons of full day hikes and weekend backpacking trips. The Zamberlan Men's Gear GTX Hiking Boot happily handles rough trails and your fairly light backpack loads. Its Gore-Tex Performance Comfort membrane gives this boot guaranteed waterproof protection that remains highly breathable so your foot stays dry and comfortable whether the day is rainy and cold or sunny and hot. While the upper's Hydrobloc Perwanger waxed suede adds weather resistance and durability to this boot, the Cordura panels enhance this boot's ventilation so your foot isn't a sweaty, stinky mess after the hike. Despite its rugged construction, this boot's last has a surprising amount of flexibility to keep you on your feet for miles.

At the bottom of the boot, there's a dual-density PU wedge that reduces impact while the special grooves allow for a natural stride. The TPU plate balances torsional rigidity with soft support in order to help you walk naturally over uneven terrain. Zamberlan added a rubber toe bumper in the front for extra long-lasting protection. The Zamberlan Vibram L.H.0.7 sole consists of a big contact area at the toe for a better grip on slippery surfaces, flexion lines across the bottom for improved rolling, and carefully positioned multidirectional lugs that ensure a maximum amount of traction and braking power.

    Does Not Hold Up

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 11

Overall the Zamberlain portion of the boot seemed to be high quality and well constructed. The big issue was the Vibram soles. The Vibram soles only last a few months before large chunks of the sole started to come off. The boots were junked after 6 months of use. In terms or Italian made boots I would recommend Asole or La Sportiva and will not be buying Zamberlains anymore.

    Great Boot

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 11

I Bought these boots for upland bird hunting, bow hunting, and as a general hiking boot.

The boots were comfortable out of the box. I did wear them around for a day or two running errands and into the office for another couple of days before getting them outside.

I've gone tromping through the woods in mud, water, rain, etc... They've held up well and have kept me dry and blister-free all season.

The boots are stiff enough to keep my ankle stable over tough terrain, but not stiff enough for an extended break-in period or for to cause any hotspots.

As for sizing; I ordered a half size up (which I rarely do) and they fit perfect. I had a pair of Aslo PowerMatic boots that my middle and little toes would rub against the front of the boot. No issues with the Zamberlan's.

So far, I'm very happy with these boots, would recommend them to a friend, and would buy another pair if needed. I've only had them for 3-4 months, so cannot comment on extended durability.

    Happy Hunting

    Nothing but Zamberlan will do

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

As an avid hiker and occasional backpacker, I need quality shoes that fit great and will last. My last boots were a pair of wonderful brown and tan Zamberlans that lasted a solid 8 or 9 years. So when the sole started to come unglued (as old boot soles do), I decided that nothing but Zamberlan would do. Backcountry has the best selection of Zamberlans of any online or physical retailer that I could find. After ordering several pairs of Zamberlans (and a few Asolo just in case) in several sizes each, I found the one. These are high quality, full leather, stiff soled (but still moveable) and very nice looking boots. I took them on a 14 mile hike to break them in, not a single blister or hot spot. If it's possible, I love these more than my last trusty Zamberlans!
