    Bike lover's trip companion.

From traveling to Napa for idyllic vineyard rides to Sedona's high-desert singletrack, the Yakima HoldUp 2in Bike Rack is an invaluable companion for carrying road and mountain bikes to your favorite cycling destinations. This sturdy, easy-loading rack attaches to your vehicle's two-inch receiver hitch, ensuring a secure interface for hauling two bikes. As a cool bonus for family vacations and road trips with friends, Yakima offers a HoldUp +2 attachment (sold separately) that expands its carrying capacity to four bikes in total.

StrongArms firmly attach to your bikes' wheels, securing those with wheel sizes ranging from 20 to 29-inches in diameter. This design safely accommodates a wide variety of bikes, ranging from carbon-frame road bikes to full-suspension mountain bikes equipped with 2.5-inch tires. Side-to-side adjustments space out bikes for an ideal fit without rubbing. Plus, it tilts down when loaded with bikes, allowing you to access your vehicle's trunk or rear hatch. And to deter theft, the HoldUp 2in features Yakima's SKS locks for securing both the rack itself and attached bikes.

    • Fits two-inch receiver hitches
    • Carries two bikes, 120-pounds total weight
    • StrongArm design secures to bike's wheels (fits 20 to 29-inch wheels)

What do you think about this product?

Excellent Service and a Great Product!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Originally ordered what I thought was the right Yakima Rack, but Ian at customer service called a day latter and questioned the order. As it turned out I ordered a "2 bike extension" instead of the rack that actually fits into the trailer hitch. He had UPS reverse the shipment and
sent the right Yakima Product. Very Nice!
As for the Yakima Bike Rack, it holds my new bike securely and without scratching it. The best part of the rack is the built in bike locks. Locks up your bike quick and conveniently. Great purchase and great customer service!

    Sleek and easy to use

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This rack does everything I expected and more. It is very easy to put your bikes on the rack, and they feel quite secure once they're on. It's also adjustable in case your bars and seat run into each other. It folds up more compactly than most of the other racks I've seen, and is not too heavy to take on and off. Looks great and does its job very well!

    Great piece of equipment!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is a great bike rack that I have used countless times. It is super easy to load and unload your bikes, which helps get you on the trails faster! It is extremely durable and it one of the best racks out there! Yakima really stepped up to the plate when they made The Holdup. I would recommend this product to any riders ranging from experts all the way to beginners.

    Simple, Durable, and Excellent Quality

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I absolutely love this rack. I'll go out and say it, this is the best rack out on the market. It is easy to use, very durable, and a super quality rack. Other racks out there tend to fade and deteriorate over time. I have had mine for 3 years now, it is never parked indoors and it has been beaten time and time again. It is holding up great! No fading and everything works perfectly. I have had no issues. The locks even work like a charm. The bikes are very secure when mounted and I feel confident flying down any dirt road or highway with my bikes hanging on the back of the car. You really can't go wrong with this rack, believe me you will not be disappointed. You even have an option to go with the plus 2 bike extension down the road if you want to carry 4 bikes.

    Great Design and Value

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I purchased this rack and am happy to report nothing but positive feedback so far. It comes disassembled but the instructions are easy to follow and all the parts were there. From beginning to end it probably took 30-40 minutes to install and the directions were simple. Yakima even includes all applicable tools for assembly (wrench and hex key). I also like that this rack comes equipped with a hitch lock and integrated bike locks to make it ready for use right out of the box and nice to be able to ride before work and leave my bike locked for the remainder of the day.

It's priced competitively compared to other racks and what really sold me on this rack was the compact design as I don't have a lot of extra room when parked in my garage. Very easy to get your bikes on and off and the bottle opener is a good touch as well, especially after those dusty rides. So far I have nothing but good things to say and am happy with the quality, design, value.

    Best compact Rack

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The Holdup is the best compact rack on the market. it folds up small and sits high for narrow and low vehicles. I had this on my Subaru and got one as a gift for my brother. It is a great value and is finished very well.

    Engineered Simplicity

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've wanted a hitch/ hold up rack for a while and although it is quite heavy I'm still super happy with it. The biggest strength is that I can easily put 2 bikes on it without any bike on bike interference and so far I have not had to make any adjustments so that two bikes fit next to each other. Installation was very straight forward, but definitely needed a socket wrench to tighten it down (the wrench that came with it was not adequate for the job). Two other great features are that it comes with locks for each bike and it folds up nice and compact. When the bikes are loaded they feel secure and put my mind at ease no matter where I'm driving.

    Love it

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I love this thing. It has no wiggle in the entire system. Nothing in the hitch or anything! Not sure if I got lucky but it is amazing. It locks down the bikes by the tire. My friends that hooks to the frame scratches bikes. It may be a little long with the attachment for 4 bikes but I don't care. It's legit.

    Highly recommended hitch rack!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This rack is as high end as I'll ever need. I thoroughly shopped around for a good 2 bike, 2 inch, hitch rack. I ended up with the Yakima Holdup 2 and am completely satisfied with my decision. I installed it the night before a Moab trip, with proper whiskey lubrication, took me about 30 min. All the tools for installation are included and the process is very straight forward. The rack preformed perfectly down in the desert on somewhat sketchy dirt/rock roads, plenty of ground clearance. For those looking for a good, sturdy, simple hitch rack I would definitely recommend checking this out!

Bought It For the Bottle Opener

....but got way more than that. This rack is the solution. It's heavy but not too heavy when I go to take it off and put into storage for the winter. Otherwise, it stays on all summer and I can't say I ever notice it until I need it. The engineering is simple and straightforward, meaning everything is easy from the setup on. I sometimes wish I didn't have to bend down to pull the release knob but we can't all live like kings, right?

      Nice rack

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have nothing but good things to say about this rack. I previously had a hitch rack that I had to buy an anti rattle/locking pin separately, but was pretty happy that those things came standard on this rack. I know my bike won't move when I'm on the road and if I need to make a pit stop, I don't have to worry about my bike thanks to the integrated bike locks for each tray. A lot of racks feel cheaply made but not this one. This baby is sturdy.

Last thing, it has a built in bottle opener!

      Simple and versatile

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've been using this rack for a few years at this point and have yet to be disappointed. It might be on the heavy end of the spectrum, but that means it's ultra-sturdy and limits unwanted bike movement in off-road situations. The ability to mount up the 2 bike add-on is a solid plus. It attaches with only one bolt and a cotter pin to allow 4 bike transport. Keep the 2 bike on for everyday use, and slip on the add-on for desert trips with the crew.

      Simple and Effective

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I assembled this in less than 20 minutes, it works great, it's a touch hard for my bride to get the bike on, and battening down the hatches takes a few seconds, but I love the locks, and 0-80 mph in 15 seconds and the bikes are still on the back...anyone got a better test? Plus, fold it up and it really doesn't take much room.

      Looks good

I bought this rack mostly for aesthetics. Let's face it, all hitch racks really do the same job - they carry our bikes. No need (for me) to compare weights or added bells and whistles. I think this rack looks the best with my black Outback because the color doesn't stick out and the wheel trays fold inward when not in use, so its a little more compact looking as well. Previously, I was a T2 Classic owner. The T2 was a lot more labor-intensive to put up and down - having to reach in for the leaver. This rack pivots a little easier with a more simple button that you pop out or push in at the hinge. The only downside is that when angling the rack down, with bikes on, to access the hatchback - that the door doesn't quite clear the bikes if you're looking to extend it all the way upward. Just a minor thing though, but worth noting.

        Simple and Great

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I'm on my second HoldUp. Had one for years on my 4runner, which got sold with the car. When I decided to get a new rack for my new truck I went right back to the HoldUp. I've used most of the other options that friends have, and while all of them seem to get the job done just fine I saw no reason to stray from the Yakima. Getting bikes on and off is quick and simple, the built in lock works great to run through the fork and secure my bike while driving around doing errands, and it doesn't hurt that the all black paint job looks good and blends in pretty well. I don't have much experience with the competition in this respect, but with the HoldUp the threaded bolt that goes through the hitch receiver works great to keep the rack from wobbling at all, and the locking cap on it is another nice bonus to keep things secure.

I used my first one for two years without any issues, and am going on year 2 with my newer one.

Are there trays/adapters to accommodate fat-tire bikes? Thank you.

        Hey Jennifer,

Yakima does not make any fat bike adapters for the Hold Up rack, but the Dr Tray rack (Item #YAK002P) fits tires up to 5" and should do the trick for you! Let me know if you have any other questions or would like any help putting in an order for one! Best regards, Connor
