    Simple and secure.

The Yakima FatCat EVO 6 doesn't care if your family skis or snowboards, it's wide enough to handle a family sized set of either type of equipment and it's easy to use. Even if the last minute decision is made for a post-Thanksgiving visit to the slopes, you won't need a single tool to attach the EVO 6 to your vehicle's roof rack, and the HangOver clamp attachment point makes it easy to load and unload your sticks. Its sleek design is aerodynamic for quiet travel on the road, and the mirror black finish always matches your car.

    Already proven its value

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This roof rack has already been a huge help as we're often trying to cram more people in our car for ski days, and will have to end up taking two cars. My partner recently went on a yurt trip and just popped them on our friends car and the five of them were able to fit in one car for an 8 hour drive - totally worth it! I also agree with the other reviewers - it's quiet and has pretty minimal profile.

Defective - keep an eye on your gear

Let me start by saying with the overwhelming amount of positive reviews for this product, what happened to me is a single data point. That being said...

The racks broke, without skis or boards loaded onto them, while locked, doing about 65mph - 75mph on the highway. I heard a loud noise, thought I might have somehow hit something and pulled off of the highway. I looked around & under the car first, then finally the roof.
As far as I can tell, the car behind me was OK when the rack broke. This is entirely unacceptable. Again, the racks were empty and locked down. I was just heading home so I should feel fortunate no skis were loaded.

The racks were a couple of weeks old and I've only used them for one skiing trip...not really a great return on investment.

A big thank you to Backcountry for taking care of me so quickly. Thank you, Cole. Once Backcountry receives the broken rack back, I would suggest talking with your Yakima rep about quality control.

      Great Ski Rack

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Easy to install, great looking rack that holds up to 6 pairs of skis and 4 boards that really makes traveling to the ski mountain with friends much easier and keeps your car cleaner/dryer. I recommend it!

Cut down on that rack whistle

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Simple to install, low profile so you don't hear much extra noise from the rack. Seems durable and i feel safe enough when my skis are locked in to grab food or a couple drinks after skiing.

      Solid and low profile

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I put this on a pair of jetstream bars and it was super easy to install and uninstall if necessary. The Black looks really nice in person and is very sleek and low profile. I havent noticed much additional noise or gas mileage reduction with this on the car thanks to the aero design. Closes really easily and solidly and with the included locks I dont ever worry about it coming open and feel ok leaving my skis up there if im going to be gone for a little bit. My one gripe is the yakima logo is just a decal and a few letters peeled off the first time through the car wash.

Let Me Tell You About This Rack..

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This rack is super easy to handle, and get mounted on to your car. Its does a great job of securing me and my friends snowboards/ skies when we are headed to the mountain and need all the space in the car we can get.. Its great that it comes with locks and keys, so you dont have to buy a separate set. Best rack I've had the pleasure of getting my hands on.

      Easy Peasy

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Install is super easy (but make sure you don't tighten the plastic wing nut too much before placing on your crossbars). I did notice the lock is a little stiff and I'm moderately concerned about breaking my key off in the lock.

      Fast and easy!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This rack makes heading to the mountain so easy. It is so nice not having to throw everything in the back of my SUV anymore. Installation is a breeze and the rack fit my Xterra's factory crossbars right out of the box.
My only hesitation is the security of the lock system, but at the same time I've never had a reason to doubt it. Overall great ski rack!

      Coolest Racks on the Market

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Paired this with the Yakima Timberline Towers and the Yakima CoreBars on my 2010 Subaru Forester. This thing looks awesome, works well, and is secure.
I have used it now for about 2 weeks and am loving it. Little wind noise, stays still on the highway, locks up, and looks better than any other rack on the market. Only thing is, I wish it had more metal parts and a more sturdy lock.

      Share more with your friends

This is a great rack for carrying you and your buddies. Why drop the seat when you can take 4 of you up the canyon waiting for first chair? Do what you know is right and carpool with your friends. You drive and they give you free breakfast and coffee. What a deal!
The oversized buttons are great so you can gear up without being cold. The rack itself is so secure with it's rubberized stopper feet to lock it down to your roof.

        Rock-solid performance

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

A breeze to install and holds all our gear without budging, even at high speeds. Plenty of room for all the gear that a car-load of people would bring to the mountain. Highly recommended.

        Aerodynamic feel

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Mounts easily on aeroblades, square, or round bars quite easily. The key can get a bit sticky in freezing conditions, but what lock doesn't have that issue. My favorite feature are the big release buttons when you have gloves on.
