Vigilante TCS Tough FR Tire
Trails don't have sheriffs, constables, or lawmen, so it's up to the riders to keep order. Huge crashes and pileups aren't what anyone is looking for, and
sometimes the only thing preventing catastrophic pileups is the obscenely
grippy WTB Vigilante TCS Tough FR 29in Tire. Big, open knobs provide
grip on wet and loose or hard and dry trails, while the Dual DNA rubber
compound blends fast-rolling 60a rubber in the middle of the tire with
grippy 50a rubber on the sides for the perfect balance of cornering and
speed.
The Tough FR (Fast Rolling) and and HG (High Grip) versions use a double-layer Enduro casing to beef up the Vigilante, while the Light version features a single-layer casing that offers moderate weight savings. Other than that, they're
the same, with an all-mountain 2.3in width, and a light, flexible TCS aramid bead that lets you use tubes or go tubeless.

Like rails on your trails!
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Seriously, did someone lay down tracks on my local trails? These things grip, grip, grip! Dry would be an understatement with how the trails have been here in Santa Cruz, CA. From super loose dust and rocks, hard pack, roots and rock gardens - these do it all! The rubber is super soft and could see them doing great in the rain too...when things really start to get slippery (nothing more slippery than polished - wet roots). I could see them wearing a little faster for more aggressive rider, but that only tells me they are doing their job. I find it funny when people buy expensive bikes only to put lower quality wheels on. Whats an $80 wheel when it's the only part that actually touches the ground! They also go on TIGHT! Takes some work to get them on but they bead perfectly tubeless and don't burp like other brands. Running the Vigilante on the front, the WTB Trail Boss is...the Boss of the rear! Buy it!
