    Sweet.

    How did they not call this the Sweet 16 (too obvious)? The Wolf Tooth Components 16T Cog is a great idea — it smoothes the transition between the 13T cog and the 19T cog on a standard cassette when you’ve installed a Wolf Tooth Giant Cog. It makes a lot of sense and your bike will shift much better, but Wolf Tooth’s product-naming team should probably re-evaluate their positions.

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

    Maybe not a necessary tool but it definitely shrinks the tooth gap when installing your 1x10. Do you need it? Maybe not, but it does make a slight difference in shifting speed.

    I bought into the hype that this 16 toother was really going to make a difference when shifting, and honestly, I don't think it makes much of a difference at all. Normally, when I am up-shifting, I'll push through 2-4 gears at a time. In fact, my shifts between the 13-19t cogs never really experience any "hanging," and nothing seems to take longer than it should; pretty much flawless to say the least. Anyhow, like I said, I kinda got sucked into the hype after reading reviews about this cog; however, shifting pretty much feels exactly the same when using the standard 15t my cassette came with.

    Maybe you can tell the difference, but I surely can't.

    Both reviewers are missing the point. The benefit of this is it minimizes the jump from taking either the 15 or 17 out of the cassette. You take them both out and put the 16 in which results in two shifts with 3 tooth gear change instead of a 4 tooth gear change. This greatly improves the smoothness of cadence in those shifts, but shifting quality remains the same
