Why We Like The Weston Backwoods Splitboard

We let the Weston Backwoods Splitboard carry us through the backcountry, up mountains, and into the trees in search of the softest, deepest snow around. This directional, award-winning split has a setback stance and camber-heavy profile to promote charging hard through deep snow in open bowls and lock down a confident edgehold in tight couloirs. Weston used poppy poplar wood with light, stiff bamboo in the core, and added carbon stringers to amplify the board's flex without adding weight. Plus, the included active-latching Karakoram UltraClips 2.0 help create an impressively responsive ride.

Super fun in pow and variable

This is my go to board and splitboard for bigger powder days. its obvious with its shape while it would excel in those conditions. What surprised me the most though was how well the board performed in firm, icy, and groomed conditions. The sidecut is perfect and itll be great this spring. Works great in deep pow of Cat Ski and variable Backcountry and side hikes of the sierras

If you could only have one split board for east coast riding the Backwoods is it. Born out west but ideal for the east coast back country rider. The camber dominant profile gives you control and stability in steep variable terrain. This board absolutely slays in powder!! The wider rocker nose gives you great float and the shorter tail makes weaving in-between tight trees a breeze. I have had the backwoods for a couple of seasons now and even ended up getting a solid for resort days.

The do it all splitboard

I've ridden this splitboard for a few years now and even stopping and going to other brands and eventually coming back this season. I ride the solid in resort and call it the quiver killer of boards and I feel the same way about the splitboard, the taper on this split allows for more float and makes this nimble and quick edge to edge but at the same time and can feel so surfy. I have taken this on low angle tree runs, open bowls and 50 degree slopes in tight spaces and I am always amazed by the performance. Uphill is super awesome on this and paired with the Weston Approach skins, you got yourself quite the quiver killer of splitboards here.

The perfect go-to ride for any situation. This is a pow centric board that won't let you down in variable or poor conditions. I like to think of it as the one board does it all kind of ride ! Between its performance and durability makes for an extremely reliable ride! from trees to steeps from ice to pow it gets the job done. definitely the go to choice regardless of conditions!

The backwoods absolutely rips powder! I’ve used this board inbounds and backcountry on numerous powder day and I love ripping it through the trees and bowls. Its short tail makes it nimble enough to make tight closer turns around and through tree gaps while the directional tapered shape lets you generate and hold speed on the rolls/flats. But don’t be fooled just because it loves the trees and meadows doesn’t mean you can’t open it up with some big arching turns in big powder fields or even ride it in less than ideal spring conditions down a couloir. The edges hold great.

I went with the 160. Took it up my favorite spot and it slayed everything I threw at it. From the old growth trees at the top, the tight chute through the choke and the glades below the cliff bands, this board soares through the snow. Effortless turns that live on in legend. I love the sidecut and how well the board holds an edge. The directional shape had me dreaming of a mythical heli trip with Craig as my copilot. I also notice the tail is slightly weighted so when I did kick turns in the spicy San Juan skin track, the tips rise above the chunder and chop. I highly recommend this board to anyone. First time splitboarding? Grab the Backwoods. Long time vet looking to reignite some passion in your turns? Backwoods.

This is a super fun board to ride. Riding it on the East Coast, it handles really well in the often crusty conditions we find in the backcountry, but is really a blast to ride on a pow day. The set-back directional setup gives the board some great float, but it also maintains a good level of playfulness. And even though it's a split, I've taken it for a spin on some groomers and definitely did not have a bad time.

Been riding the 2023 for the past year. Such a great board. Does everything you could ask of it. Light enough but really solid and damp. Shreds pow great, super stable at speed and off of cliffs, and a nice swing weight for tech jump turns. Really can't ask for anything else in a board.

This was my go-to, daily driver, partly because it never stopped snowing last year. This board is fantastic in powder. The fat nose and large set back keep it floating effortlessly and make it super nimble for weaving through trees. I put over 70 days on it last year guiding and its still as solid as the first day I took it out. I love this board and I can't wait to get it back out there this season.

Weston really nailed it with the backwoods and it's the only powder specific board in my quiver. The camber-dominant profile and 10mm setback on this board not only makes it really nimble and quick riding through tight tree runs but it is super reliable on crud and non-ideal conditions as well. Even in demanding terrain and challenging conditions the backwoods has incredible edge-hold and gives a lot of confidence when needed.
