More versatile than you'd think.
Western Mountaineering's versatile Tamarak Sleeping Bag transcends the seasons for many different reasons. Obviously it makes an excellent lightweight, two-season bag for any adults five feet an under, but it also pairs well with parkas for an alpine bivy system, and the kids will appreciate it for summer camping trips. This semi rectangular bag achieves a phenomenal light weight through its 850+ down insulation, the loftiest down available on the market. Western Mountaineering wrapped up this ultralight insulation with a water-resistant ripstop material, which Western Mountaineering claims is the lightest downproof fabric out there.
The shell's water-resistance helps the insulation retain its loft, and warmth, in moisture-riddled environments. Western Mountaineering's critical thought to the smallest details makes the Tamarak a long-lasting choice. A differential cut places more fabric at the lining to ensure maximum loft inside the bag, and continuous baffles allow you to shift the bag's down toward the top or bottom for more or less warmth. Extra convenient features include a full-length zipper on either side, a waterproof stuff sack, and a storage sack with a large volume that helps the bag retain its loft overtime.

Perfect for a camping kiddo
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
The Tamarak is a perfect bag for my son, when I don't use it myself as a "shortie," paired with a warm down jacket. So I love that I can justify him having a Western so I can use it!

Perfect short bag!
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I've owned this bag for 7 years. I've slept in it over 400 nights including a full thru hike of the AT. It is still going strong, although it has lost some loft by this point. I'm a short guy and this fits me well as a full bag. There is the perfect amount of room to move around in the bag and yet still be efficient for warming the space up. The 2-way full zipper is very versatile, you can vent your feet, unzip it full for a quilt, or even double it up and wear it like a skirt. Its my go-to everyday 3-season bag (I've used it down to the teens by itself). I plan on buying a second if I can ever wear the first one out.
