AMAZING
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I am an anthropologist and bought a Western Mountaineering sleeping bag in 1996. I slept in it for two straight years in Morocco, including no-tent camping at 12,000 feet and every night sleep in a village at 5,000+ feet (with no heat, a dirt hut) --all winter long. NEVER was remotely cold. The problem was I that I came home and could not stop and my wife was annoyed with my sleeping bag in our bed, so I bought this Cloud 9. Marriage saved! I am buying another one as a gift, and dreaming of an Ion Parka. (I still winter camp in the bag 25 years later. It could use a wash, but not a single feather lost or any other structural damage. Amazing!)

Can't Do Winter Without It!
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
At home, on the road, or in the backcountry, this quilt is the perfect companion to keep you cozy on chilly nights. Initially purchased as a comforter for our bed, we were so impressed by its warmth and virtually weightless comfort, we decided to take it on a long ski road trip across the US and Canada this winter. It did not disappoint. In fact, it kept us toasty in our truck camper, even when the mercury took a steep dive. After a long day skiing in Whistler it was like heaven slipping under this and snuggling up to pure bliss! After proving itself in the warmth department, we ran the specs and decided this would save big time on weight if we replaced our two bag system with a quilt for backpacking trips. We couldn't wait to try it, so on our next desert adventure it was snugly packed down in our pack and ready to go. The first night it got down in the low thirties and the wind picked up pretty good, but we could barely tell, thanks to the magical power of 800 fill down! This ol' girl has seen plenty of use since then, traveling across the country with us in our truck camper and tagging along for backpacking treks. But it shows no signs of wear and tear, as the fabric is amazingly durable yet soft and comfortable. Weighing in at a mere 2 lb 11 oz (queen) it provides all the warmth without the weight and is our favorite travel buddy now (aside from our furry four legged friend that is). We have tried other down blankets, but none compare to the warmth to weight ratio and durable yet comfortable fabric of this one. I have a feeling it will keep making warm memories with us for years to come.

Does this come with a stuff sack? What is the packed sized of the queen. Thinking about getting this for backpacking with my kids who don't like to sleep in bags.

Warm and lightweight.
- Familiarity:
- I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
This is a great blanket. It's awesome for the cabin, camping, and to keep in my car as an emergency blanket. It packs down pretty small and is lightweight. Very warm.

Too warm for indoors
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I am using this indoors because I run cold with my Queens size silk comforter weighing over 10 pounds This comforter is ultra light in comparison and warmer I made the switch because I wanted a change from something heavy and have the flexibility to camp with The product made me a believer in down warmth after decades with heavy silk comforters for winter

Worth every penny
The blanket is amazingly warm. Used it for lining our sleep bag for extra warmth with little extra weight.

It's as light as a cloud
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Fit:
- True to size
- Size Bought
- Queen
- Height
- 5` 7"
- Weight
- 119 lbs
I was expecting something much thicker for that price. It seems to just float on top of my bed with no weight but it does keep me warm. I don't mind now going to a cold bed, it will be warm in no time. And love that its made in the USA!

DOOOOOWN!!

Awsome all around blanket. Very useful whether to be used in the car, in your home, or whatever/wherever you want to. Very warm; easy to pack; weighs nothing. May give you some sparks in dry weather...when you rub the fabric too much...?

Couch or tent?
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I say both! Why limit it? This comforter does live in my home and couldnt be better for a cozy movie on the couch. I've heard of folks who also use it as a comforter in their tent, which is great as well. Western simply makes the BEST down products! Note of caution: My French bulldog loves it too, and I just have to watch her nails on the fabric. Not a huge deal, just something to be aware of, AND its the tradeoff between luxurios cloud like comfort and a bomber piece of gear. Treat her right. :-)

wonderful
My wife & I use it car camping as an alternative to sleeping separately in bags. It has a silky feeling fabric. Super lightweight. Really warm. We've used it down to 36 degrees with minimal clothing layers. I looked into a regular down comforter for a bed, but you can't find one with higher rated down and light weight fabric. This is the best.

Hi there - Leta from Western Mountaineering here. I could not agree more. I have had one for years, and although I'd like to say I camp with it, the reality is that it's my movie-night comforter on the couch! It's awesome that it does double duty! Great piece, and one of my favorites from this brand. AND, made in the USA!!!! Leta

Cloud 9 for sure
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
This blanket is pretty amazing. Light, soft, and warm. What more could you want from a down blanket?! Even though this thing is huge when you lay it out it packs down really small. I have the queen. Plenty of room for two under there. I plan on using this on my bed in winter to cut down on the heating bill and taking it out in the field when cuddling is necessary.

What would the approximate packed size of the queen comforter be (compressed)?……… Thanks

How many inches of loft does the Cloud 9 have? WM are great about publishing this for their sleeping bags, and it helps determine a temperature rating. But I can find nothing anywhere on this piece. Thanks!

Stuart, I am not by my comforter, but from my memory, it's about 3-4" of loft. It's box stitch construction, so you have seems to think about that have no loft, but for a summer or spring comforter, I think it's perfect. Leta Western Mountaineering Rep
