A high-performance sleep system for obsessive gram counters, the Western Mountaineering 26 Degree Down Astralite Quilt comes to you with top-tier craftsmanship, materials, and an out-of-this-world warmth-to-weight ratio. As with the rest of Western Mountaineering's products, the Astralite's 850-fill power European down is untreated to let the large clusters and natural oils within offer sufficient resistance to moisture while trapping precious warmth, and the 7D and 10D taffeta fabric encompass it for an exceptionally high warmth-to-weight ratio and highly compressible design.
Cut with a performance mummy shape, this quilt is compatible with any mummy-shaped sleeping pad to eliminate uneven cushioning and restless nights. While other quilts suffer from poor design when it comes to their closures, the Astralite's bottom system snugly closes from shoulder to foot, while the top collar drapes around your shoulders to further prevent any disheartening heat loss. Plus, the closure system easily accommodates a wide variety of body shapes to let the whole family use it. With a total weight tipping the scale at barely one pound, this toasty down quilt compresses down to roughly the size of your water bottle for easy packing and comfortable trekking.

What do you think about this product?

First off - love Western Mountaineering. Have had a number of their products (3 sleeping bags and 2 jackets) over the years and currently have Caribou MF and Apache MF for sleeping bags. Both are awesome and at least for me much warmer than their ratings. I like ultralite gear and this was really really lite. But I just didn't like the rats nest of cords cinching the back and more broadly I don't think quilts of this type are for me. I would rather go with a hoodless sleeping bag with full zip. So - not a quality issue by any means - this was a gorgeous piece of gear - doesn't get any better than WM. But I'd rather carry the extra weight and have the additional versatility of the Caribou MF which I already have. So I sent it back. This type of quilt is kind of a weird concept. Good for warm weather but you can't really fully open it in warm weather. Not sure of the use case.

Thank you for passing on, David! It is definitely a unique piece for a unique user. Most folks will agree with you, but those who are counting grams might like this lighter concept. Than you for the kudos! Leta Western Mountaineering Rep
