Why We Like The Animas 40L Backpack

Ski, paddle, or fish the day away with help storing our gear from the Animas 40L Backpack. It keeps whatever we have stored safe with high-denier nylon and polyurethane coating, and a proprietary ZipDry seal and rolltop closure ensure everything stays nice and dry. Padded shoulder straps and a waist belt make it easy to carry this bag up a mountain or lug it across a river, and they're easily removed when we need to stow it away in our canoe or kayak.

Waist belt seems flimsy

Waist belt attachment points seem to be flimsy. Waterproofing and fabric material are bomb proof.

Made for large bodies, design flaws

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it
Size Bought:
40 liter

Weight:
165

This would be a great waterproof pack, except: I'm 5'6", a muscular 165, and this pack is made for larger bodies. The whole pack rides too low on the body and no available adjustment helps. The shoulder straps themselves are too wide. Pulling the top shoulder strap buckles all the in doesn't do enough to get the pack riding higher. Although there are loops on either side that the waist band passes through, it's not possible to secure it at the lower point so that the pack will ride higher on my back. With any load in at all, it is bumping on my butt. The trademark seal is fantastic. But, it's not possible to roll the top edge more than once over the seal and then close the securing buckle over it. This also means that you can't take up any slack room in the pack with rolling the seal over a few times. Solid materials and will definitely keep your things dry, but just needs a bit more thought on putting it all together.
