Vuarnet's legend continues.
In 1959 Jean Vuarnet won gold for France in a downhill ski competition. He did it wearing a pair of Vuarnet sunglasses with Skilynx lenses. Since then, Vuarnet sunglasses sit atop European style for skiers, rock stars, and French fashionistas, yet the Skilynx lens remains true to a skier's visual acuity. Downhill enthusiasts can still find the Skilynx lenses in the VL 1402 Sunglasses—an updated version of the classic Sklynx designed for the modern skier. Skilynx lenses cut through white-out conditions with a double-gradient tinted coating that combines a darker shade at the top and a lighter at the bottom to counter the sun's glare and snowy ground. These scratch-resistant, natural mineral glass lenses also feature an anti-reflective coating for enhanced clarity in bluebird weather. The VL 1402's sporty frame' wraparound design and rubberized temples offer a secure fit whether you're spring skiing or soaking in the mountain views from a cafe in Chamonix.
