- Q & A
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Being prepared for emergencies is never a bad thing, and there are many essential items for anyone who enjoys getting out in the wilderness.
This one comes with a compass on one end, and a 3 LED flashlight on the other, which has 3 different settings (full, dim, SOS).
This cache comes empty; allowing you to customize the specific items you wish to carry with you, and protecting them from the elements.
Only quibble: the canister is not particularly light. I haven't thrown it on the scale yet to weigh it, but it's definitely heavier than the plastic bags most first aid and/or survival kits come in.
Of course, that "heavy" canister is far more durable than the plastic bags that many survival kits come in, and both the removable compass and flashlight have O-rings to help seal the canister when threaded on.
Buy it, fill it, and hope you never have to use it.
The VSSL Cache
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
The VSSL Cache is a really versatile, compact piece of gear that is a flashlight that can hold a ton of supplies, and it is nearly indestructible. Plus, it’s actually quite cheap for what you get.
Fill it with whatever first aid/snack/survival gear you think you're going to need for your next excursion, toss it in your backpack and get going. The possibilities are endless.
Definitely a very cool product.
