Volcom sizes large, 4 stars for this reason. I am 170lbs 5'11" and bought medium. I believe these along with other snowboard pants like my Burton AKs are meant to be worn up over your hips. For me that is with a belt too. If I wear them like my jeans, below my hips, they are simply way to big and long, again same as my Burton AKs which are also mediums. Paired with the Guch jacket they are sweet, especially with the rear zip together.
