Your tail popped off.

Backcountry skiers dread that four word sentence, because it means they have to either take their skis off to fix their skins, or they have to perform some amazing acrobatics to fix the skins without taking skis off—unless, they have Voile's Ski Skins with Tail Clips, that is. With Voile's modified, curved, dual-point, stainless steel fasteners, these skins ensure a secure attachment when you're skinning up steep skintracks with endless switchbacks. Also new to Voile's Ski Skins is the addition of Gold Label Adhesive, which is to standard adhesives as standard liquors are to their gold-labeled counterparts. Voile also made these skins out of hydrophobic nylon for superior grip on icier tracks.

  • Climbing skins with bomber tip and tail clips
  • Nylon skins offer superior grip on steep and slick tracks
  • Gold Label Adhesive is a long-lasting glue
  • Trim tool and nylon stuff sack included

Tail clips slide a litte

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

These are my first pair of skins so I don't have anything to compare to, but they worked fine for me. I didn't think the troubles I had hiking up had anything to do with the skins and it was pretty much only issues with my technique. Those damn kick turns.

I thought this specific tail clip system made it a little bit harder to take off skins without taking off skis, but I probably just need more practice.

Voile Skins

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have had the chance to use these skins on multiple backcountry tours and am pleasantly surprised. The tail clip once adjusted to your correct length stays on all day. The glue is superior - coupled with some skin savers make them easy to pull apart. The grip to glide ratio is perfect. Additional grip when ascending with the high riser. Superior glide when skinning in the flats.

Great Nylon Skins

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These are the perfect Nylon skins! You will be super happy with them so look no further. Great adhesion on the back and super easy to trim to the right dimensions. Great grip for Nylon and just enough glide. I've paired these up with some Superchargers and they work perfectly. There's not much else to say.

Make sure you buy the correct width on your skins! Let me know if you have any questions on these or any other skins!

Easy to use and secure.

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

These skins have been great so far. They're grippy when I need them to be and easy to trust on firm, variable terrain. The tail clips stay securely on so I don't lose the tail like I used to with other tail clips. I use these on my Blizzard Zero Gs and love the setup.

New Skins, New You

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Voile has really made a superior product here. Their climbing skins are so solid, the glue is perfect, sticks to the bases of my V6 like a boss. They are cut very nice out of the box they aren’t too wide at the tip to increase climbing efficiency and reduce weight. Also the tip and tail hook and locking mechanism are user friendly and perfectly solid. The skins come apart easily when stuck together and can withstand multiple laps in the backcountry. All in all these skins are very nice and light and durable and grippy.
