    Roll fast.

A 60-mile XC day seems daunting, but it’ll feel more like 25 when you’re ripping through fallen leaves and blasting across low-G rollers on Vittoria’s 29in Mezcap G Plus TNT Tire. Its center knobs are built to deliver killer efficiency on long, smooth straights, and the solid but not bulky edge serves up best-in-class grip for railing corners, even when they’re loose.

Even XC tires have to be durable, so Vittoria built the Mezcal with its TNT casing, a tubeless-compatible setup that has KEVLAR fibers woven into the rubber to safely suck up big impacts and sharp edges. The G+ Isotech rubber compound is made with graphene, too, which makes the rubber lighter and tougher without adding ounces that just slow you down.

    4 star

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

a pretty darn good tire, but not the best available. grip was decent, and they do roll fast. Lifespan was average for a good tire. the only real area I would put below average was in protection. pinch flats happening a little more than I'd like. tire pressure was correct, just situations where I would expect more. Braking was not as solid as I would like but maybe average. I feel like I just slammed the tire but I want to give all aspects honestly. really still giving it a 4 out of 5 starts because it is a pretty good tire, just some I like better.

    Great Fast Rolling Tire

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These are great. To be clear these are fast rolling XC tires. If you're expecting trail/enduro/downhill performance, you're buying the wrong tire.

I have these on a Pivot Les and love them. They roll fast and work great in the Park City/N UT area. Will work well on nice single track. Will not work well in loose rocky terrain.

    Great Tires!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

As stated below, these are very much like the Saguaro with a stitch more knobs...all in all, an awesome XC set up. TL accomplished with a floor pump, easy to install on the rims.

    Great until it wasn't

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Overall good for what it is - rolls fast with good site bite. Tubeless setup was super easy with a floor pump. As another reviewer mentioned, it does slide around a lot under braking (more than I expected), but as an XC tire that's fine. Personally, I liked the handling on my Continental X-Kings better, which are cheaper..

The deal breaker for me was that after 150-200 miles of usage I managed to tear an entire knob off the tire, which has never happened to me before. IIt happened at speed on a smooth, green-rated trail, so it's not like I was putting it through anything too nasty.

Pricey tire for that short of a life.

    All the GRIP

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Super cool tires. They last a long time. Solid amount of grip with a long tread life. Highly recommend them. I have used them both out west and in the flint rock of the ozarks. They hold up great.

    Very nice

Reminds me of a Sagauro but is a grippier tire. Has more traction than expected but does work better as a summer tire. Would be a great race tire but I actually use it AM and love it.
Has a nice ride quality, well damped, fast but decent grip levels. Live in New England so rocky and some mud at times. Never had a problem with sidewall tears like almost all my Spec tires I've used. Has great grip on rock.
      Would buy again

      Fast and Dependable

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I put 700 miles on these in Southern California in mostly dry rocky loose terrain. I'm 180lb and they were on 22mm inner width rims.

--NO sidewall problems, or anything sealant couldn't easily handle
--Excellent wear as you can see by the picture of the rear tire after 700miles.
--Huge volume for their rated size.
--Mount and hold air without issue.
      --Extremely fast, smooth rolling tire
--Traction is excellent in relation to the speed, but it is not going to be great compared to more aggressive tires. That is just reality. Choose your poison.
--The best direct comparison I can do is vs. an Ardent Race. The Mezcal has much more volume which helps you through tough stuff and is faster rolling. The Ardent Race does seem to hook up better in loose corners and braking.

      Fast and Dependable

      Great tire

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is a dream endurance racing rear tire. Rolls really fast, has tremendous air volume, and a reasonable degree of sidewall protection. Think of it as a Conti Raceking with better side bite. Also sets up tubeless incredibly easy. Vittoria nailed it with this one.

      Not Impressed.

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Have run two other models of Victoria tires. The Goma on the rear was very good. Had high hopes for the Mezcal but about to take it off. I didn't expect the performance I got from the Goma, however I have skinny race treads that hook up better than this tire. Running as a rear tire, this tire has the worst breaking traction of any tire I have ever run and yes, most of my breaking is expected from the front. This thing just skates everywhere all the time on steep techy trail. Also tends to break loose under climbing more than it should. Open tread patterns are becoming more and more appealing to me. Nothing against Vittoria, but will not buy this model again.

      Great all around tires!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have been running the Mezcal 2.25" as the rear tire on my full suspension XC bike, and have been amazed at the grip, tread life, and rolling resistance.

Granted it has been on an XC bike, so I might not be trying hard enough, but the sidewalls have held up remarkably well.

These are surely some of, if not the fastest XC tires out there; with a great ride and durability to boot!

Fastest All-round tire out there. My Go

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Almost continuous center tread knobs make this one of the fastest tires on the market today, but unlike many other fast tires out there this is still a full size tread for an XC tire. Many other tires bread as fast rolling tires have super low profile knobs to achieve a fast rolling tire, meaning that you often lose traction. What Vittoria has done is matched those other fast rolling tires, but kept a full tread so you don't lose traction. Same cornering knobs as the "Peyote" tire giving oodles of corning traction. Nice tight together knobs also make this tire incredibly puncture resistant. This is my favorite all rounder out there right now.

      Perfect desert tire

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

my first year riding I tried many different brands of tires from continental, specialized, maxxis, and schwalbe. I flatted out of countless races regardless of what I did. I have now been running vittorias with TNT casing for over a year which equates to close to 4000 miles on them and I have not flatted yet. The mezcal in particular is new to me but I am stoked on the way it rides. Feels very fast on desert terrain with enough side knob to grip the ball-bearing type dirt we have in Northern Utah. always stoked to have a set of mezcals on my bike

Well designed for it's intended use

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Ive been riding this tire front and rear for the past 3 months over varied terrain and I can only say good things about it! The tread pattern is fast and grippy in every situation, and it is wearing much slower than standard Vittoria tires. Even at low pressures the TNT casing has prevented flats. This is a solid tire for xc and light trail use!

UPDATE: after 2 more months of riding and racing the same tire, the look the same as they did when I wrote the initial review. The durability and life of the tire is exceptional and a huge leap forward compared to previous Vittoria tires. I can only assume it has something with the Graphene reinforced rubber, but either way, its good!

What are peoples thoughts on this tire for New England riding? Read a review about their performance in VT (Where I live) that make it sound like the bees knees. I'm only interested in race days for these. No techy, vertical runs. Strictly 50mi races on all types of trails, but enough doubletrack/dirt roads for me to want a faster duo than my HansDampf/Nobbynic. Thanks!
