When you're not tackling purely technical terrain, the fast-rolling alternating center tread on the Bombolonis will ensure they never veer towards the clunky, unyielding end of the spectrum.

    A 29+ tire can blast through just about anything, which is why it makes sense that Vittoria chose to take inspiration from automobile snow tire technology when developing the Bomboloni. Capable of ferrying you over everything from lightly dusted hardpack to piles of slushy, wet snow, the Bombolonis are made with Vittoria's durable dual-compound rubber and protected by 120 TPI casing. Square knobs paired with sharply squared-off edges on the tires lend ample confidence as you ride over slick sections of trail or corner through deep snow, while the alternating sipe angles — thin slits cut across the surface of the tire to increase traction — provide added grip on icy or wet terrain in the same way that they do in your car.

    Italian Donut on a non-boost '16 Fox 34

    Familiarity:I've used it several times

    Using a 29mm Internal rim, the Bomboloni fit in my '16 Fox 34. Fun! Mounted easy with a floor pump, no leaks. Nice construction.

    All About That TPI

    Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

    I upgraded to the Vittoria Bomboloni from the cheap Surly Knard Tires that came with my Niner ROS 9 Plus.  Compared to the stock 27tpi Knards, acceleration and steering is lighter and quicker.  I didn’t expect it, but the rebound of the Vittoria tires is also much better than the Surly Tires.  I found I was overinflating the Surlys a bit to keep them from being too bouncy on dirt.  The Vittoria tires have no such problems and are smooth and happy at 14-16 psi.  Volume of the tires seems less dependent on tire pressure as well, so clearance on the ROS 9 is better at over 15 psi.

    Looking for info on tire clearances with a 140 mm Pike fork..These probably won't fit. Do you know of a tire in between your standard 2.3/4 and these? Would be cool to transform my trail bike into a semi-fatty..

    I think these would be a tight squeeze in the brake arch of a Pike. 2.35 inch wideSchwalbe and 2.4 inch wide WTB tires are amontg the wider conventional 29er tires I am aware of. A lot of 29 er frames will accomodate a 27.5 plus wheel and tire. Check out the Stan's Hugo wheels we have available, along with a wider 27.5 tire like the Maxxis Chronicle.

    Can you comment on the performance of these in snowy conditions? I'm looking for a 29 x 3 tire that performs well in the winter...


    Are these really 487 grams? If so, how durable are they

    Hey Keith, those are definitely not 487g. That is an error on our part. Vittoria says that those are 1040g. At that weight they should be plenty durable!


    what would you recommend for a commuter 29+ which has cement after a mile in woods? so roots, mud, hardpack all in the same trail, then the cement jungle the rest of the way. using Knards now which no longer hold sealant. massive sealant weap, but otherwise performance is fine for my multi surface use. and i have a fat bike so not needing snow performance, but wouldn't hate if it went well in sand and snow as mentioned above.
