Maca Chocolate Bar
You've just finished your third kale-based meal of the day, and you're working on drinking the last of your protein shake filled with kale, acai berries, and every other super food discovered in the last five years. We're going to make a suggestion: you sound like you could use a piece of chocolate. Don't worry, we wouldn't dream of telling you to throw away weeks of your dedicated training diet with a gooey, chocolate-flavored bar of gunk. As it turns out, you can eat a Vega Maca Chocolate Bar and actually come out ahead of where you were before, as Vega, a plant-based nutrition company, adds invigorating organic Maca to 70% cocoa dark chocolate to create the bar. In addition to gaining antioxidants from dark chocolate alone, you now have the opportunity to benefit from the higher energy levels and vitamin B12 Maca is known to provide. The best part: you also won't be consuming any gluten or genetically modified organisms, and the bars are kosher friendly, certified vegan, and organic.
- Tastes like chocolate, feels healthy
- Plant-based nutrition fuels your body
- Maca offers increased energy and vitamin content

- Q & A
I'm not the biggest fan of dark chocolate, but these taste great! In my opinion it feels a little weird paying $2.99 for a bar of chocolate online for some reason. As far as I could tell that is about as much or less than what you'll pay for pretty much any other vegan chocolate bar, though.
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
This is probably my favorite vegan treat now. If you're vegan and have a hard time finding a good indulgence (I feel your pain) this will hit the spot.
Now, I'm no Willy Wonka, but I know a good chocolate bar. Vega knocks it out of the park with this one.
Great Flavor! I was quite surprised, but they really do taste good.
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Super tasty! I'm eating one of these while I write, and I'm impressed! Getcha some!

Great deal for what it is and tastes pretty good.
I've had Maca before; this is okay
Ive had maca before in a mix. powerful and does give a kick but i did not get a kick from this bar. I thought it was expensive for what your buying. its a small bar. not a huge "candy" bar by any means. Its a one time serving to me. I love Vega stuff but this was sort of a let down. It almost tasted old so maybe I got an older bar. I don't remember seeing an expiration date on it....
Good taste for what it is
You're not buying this for taste, but for easy access to energy. On both fronts it works well.
Okay.. these are excellent chocolate bars with a generous portion of maca. You can really taste and feel the affects of the maca. It is a gentle stimulation with a mild euphotic effect which definitely intensifies the taste of the chocolate. This is definitely a high quality chocolate bar. The only problem I have noted is that the texture of the bars change, sometimes the bars are overly hard, while other times they are a perfect firm softness..
Most pleasant way to eat Maca
My girlfriend is a Maca hound, and we are both loyal vega customers, so we decided to give this a shot. The chocolate itself was tasty, but pretty typical for a 70% bar. However, I agree with the previous review, the maca gave it a nutty texture that I really liked. I'm a big fan of mouth feel on things (chia seed pudding, pears, green smoothies), and I was quite happy with this bar. Nutrition wise, the serving of Maca is HUGE, so it is more than enough for the athletes and health nuts of the world.
Seed-like flavor, tactile grit, decent
The chocolate without the maca tastes pretty standard, maybe nuances of raspberry, but the maca adds a significant nutty and seed-like flavor, plus a slight tactile grit.
I don't think I've had maca before, but it's some sort of powder derived from a root. A quick Wikipedia skim informs me that maca is most often fertilized with sheep and alpaca manure, and is often marketed as an aphrodesiac (heh).
Overall, not bad. 215 calories for the whole bar. Smaller than your standard Hershey's bar, but big enough to be a solid value at only 3 dollars, especially considering the health conscious ingredients.
It's not fancy bean to bar chocolate, but it gets the job done appeasing chocolate cravings.
