Don't let rain keep you inside.
Sometimes it can be hard to get motivated for a hike—maybe the day is drizzly and the forecast even more questionable—but the dry, comfortable, and lightweight Talus Trek UltraDry Women's Hiking Boot makes it a little easier to get up and at 'em. It's lighter than the standard Talus, making it better for day hikes, speedy missions, and hikes under lighter loads, and it fights off soggy weather with an UltraDry waterproof and breathable membrane and waterproof nubuck leather upper, so puddles, drizzle, and mud won't give your feet a hard time. Vasque decked the upper out with mesh panels, too, which improve breathability so you don't have to deal with sweat as well as wet weather.
Stability's key in a lightweight boot, so Vasque gave the Talus Trek a dual-density footbed, molded EVA midsole, and TPU shank to cushion your feet against rugged terrain and help prevent rolled ankles and twisted knees. The speedlace system lets you dial down a snug fit to increase comfort, reduce blisters, and prevent foot slop, and the sticky Vibram Nuasi sole features XSTrek rubber, which helps you walk up rocky slabs and muddy trails like you're a gecko walking across a wall.

I haven't owned an official pair of hiking boots in a long time. And I was definitely hesitant buying online but after a few friend recommendations, I went "blindly" with these. Just as I would running shoes, I purchased a 1/2 size up.
When I first received them, they were immediately comfortable. I purchased some thin wool socks for my hike and set out just 2 days after these bad boys (girls?) were delivered. I am so pleased with their performance during my overnight backpacking trip up to Pyramid Peak in Desolation Wilderness (CA). The hike has all types of terrain - steep dirt incline, swampy meadow, snow and right at the summit - pure limestone boulders. The shoes were comfortable through the entire experience - no blisters, no hitting the toes, no uncomfortable rubbing and their grip on the boulders was great and potentially lifesaving. I was so surprised since there is almost always a "break-in" period for shoes! It took a bit of getting used to because they are thick shoes, but that is to be expected with a good hiking boot, right? Will update if they start falling apart but so far - I am super pleased!
