I’m Pleased!

I’ve had my Talus boots for several years and have fallen in love with them all over again. I initially bought them for light hiking days that occurred infrequently. I had other boots for more extreme terrain and backpacking. Since I did not use these much and my yard work boots crapped out on me, I transitioned them to that role, which was beneath them, but hey…I already had them. It turned out that they worked great around the yard, but they really are structured for movement…and I end up standing more so than moving when working in my yard. I eventually started doing frequent and unloaded 3 to 5 mile hikes using another brand of boot that I got to replace these after they became yard boots. Turns out that these worked much better for those 3 to 5 mile outings than the other boots that replaced them (which are from a well-know bootmaker and compete with this model). The difference in ease of stride and all things ergonomic is noticeable. These boots are not perfect, but they do certain things very, very well. I have a high arch and typically border on needing wide footwear. With these, the fit is secure and snug without feeling tight or restrictive. No blood flow or blister issues at all, regardless of my sock choice. I consider them water resistant, not waterproof.

Awesome pair of boots! Vasque never disappoints.

I am a surveyor and am on my feet all day. The Talus are my primary footwear for work. My profession seriously puts every aspect of these boots to the test. I walk/hike up to 8 or so miles a day, in some harsh terrain. My feet NEVER hurt and are always dry. As a side note, I weigh about 230 lbs and carry 30 lbs of gear on my back. I bought these boots a year ago and they seriously don't look it. I will definitely be buying another pair.

Pros and Cons

The pros: comfortable right out of the box, ready to spend all day in them! They were also reliably waterproof, even in thes PNW winters when everything is soaking wet. The cons: the tread/sole simply did not hold up. Within 6 months (of moderate use) I had holes in the soles and then, well, they're certainly a lot less waterproof. I loved the look and comfort, but need something that can actually withstand a proper hike.

Very disappointed

I purchased these boots in the fall of 2022. I live in the Deep South and find them to be extremely hot during the summer. I only wear these boots in the winter. I have worn these boots on 2 rainy days only to walk around with wet feet. I feel like with the name ultradry that should never happen. I have worn Redwings for 23 years and wanted to try there hiking boot line. I understand a waterproof boot may be warm but this boot does not keep my feet dry.

Flimsy and Uncomfortable

After 30 years of only wearing Vasque hiking boots I think I have to find another brand. Wore these daily for a few weeks on light/moderate day hikes on vacation in the Rockies. The sole/shank is so flimsy my feet hurt walking around the campsite, let alone the trail. I had to double up insoles to tolerate it. The tongue gusset folds funny and rubbed painfully on my ankle. They became expensive yard work boots when I got home.

Great look, poor fit and performance

I bought these last summer, and have not used them much as i usually hike in my low tops. From the first lace up, something was wrong. They lace up right to the very top of the boot, almost above the tongue. i went on a 20 mile hike like this, and it caused my front ankle to hurt for months afterwards. Conclusion - The lacing is poor. I finally took them out on a rough hike this summer, scaling rocks and in rainy conditions. The sole fell off on this first serious hike. Conclusion - poor quality. The most expensive hiking boot i ever bought, and the worst quality boot i ever owned. But they do look nice!

Snapped Lace eyes

I needed to upgrade from my usual 70 shoe to a better product and was shown these. They fit great, light weight, wide with for my ridiculous feet, but two quality control issues have me stumped. Without pulling my laces beyond comfortable, two separate eyelets have snapped the glue. Where is rhe stitching? The other manufacturer issue was a discontinued model and how i was shown this variation for my line of work.

Awesome boots

I have had my pair for 18 months. I wear them for work and play everyday for 10 plus hours, the only thing that wears is the sole because I am walking on concrete for 8 hours a day, The sole is designed soft for hiking I knew this buying them.. other than that these boots rock.

Low volume, poor tongue design

I've worn these boots now off and on for about 4 month and they are flat not comfortable after about an hour. I don't have wide feet but these boots have really small volume and make you feel like you have the thickest socks on you own. Nothing like my old trusty Breeze boots. I would return if I could but have used them too much.
