Saga GTX Backpacking Shoe

Vasque built the nimble and lightweight Men's Saga GTX Backpacking Shoe for fast-moving treks across rough and rugged terrain. It combines precise control and high levels of breathability with the stability and support you need to shoulder heavy loads, so you can move faster and more confidently along challenging mountain trails.

Mesh panels in the upper and heel and toe ventilation ports keep air flowing to help your foot stay cool when tackling arduous ascents in warm weather, and tough suede protects against abrasion from rocky terrain. Gore-Tex Extended Comfort waterproofing keeps rain out when the skies suddenly open up, while providing excellent breathability so your foot stays comfortably dry. The supportive ATC midsole and high-rebound footbed lend lots of stability to help you move with precision and control on varied terrain. It's finished with a Vibram Contact Grip outsole with Megagrip Compound to provide reliable grip on any trail conditions you come across.

Great Boot, Instantly Broken-In

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Really happy to find this boot. I had previously been wearing Salomon Quest 4D boots. I had loved the Salomon's for there tough sole, wide toe-box, and instant break-in comfort. However, on the last version of the Quests, the comfort is gone. They've added a very rigid back to the boot and they want to give me blisters no matter how much break-in. Enter the Vasque Saga. Probably the most comfortable boots I have worn. Lighter than the Quests, which is noticeable immediately on the trail. At first I thought the tow box might be a little narrow for my liking, but found it comfortably wide once hiking. The heal is narrow-ish, which I like. The soles are thick enough, but not overly rigid. You'll feel the terrain. I like that dynamic feel. Will have to see if they get too soft over time. The uppers of the shoe are flexible and form a nice wrap over the foot. The laces are not great. Super skinny and a little hard to get tight. I've ordered replacement laces. That's my only complaint.

Great boot, terrible laces

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Loved the boot. Super comfortable and almost already broken in at purchase. The negative is that both laces broke on the second and third day of hiking. Absolutely bring back up laces if you buy these boots.
