    Saga GTX Backpacking Shoe

Vasque built the nimble and lightweight Men's Saga GTX Backpacking Shoe for fast-moving treks across rough and rugged terrain. It combines precise control and high levels of breathability with the stability and support you need to shoulder heavy loads, so you can move faster and more confidently along challenging mountain trails.

Mesh panels in the upper and heel and toe ventilation ports keep air flowing to help your foot stay cool when tackling arduous ascents in warm weather, and tough suede protects against abrasion from rocky terrain. Gore-Tex Extended Comfort waterproofing keeps rain out when the skies suddenly open up, while providing excellent breathability so your foot stays comfortably dry. The supportive ATC midsole and high-rebound footbed lend lots of stability to help you move with precision and control on varied terrain. It's finished with a Vibram Contact Grip outsole with Megagrip Compound to provide reliable grip on any trail conditions you come across.

I finally retired a pair of hiking shoes I'd owned for 13 years. I don't recommend anyone use a shoe that long, but I was quite attached to them. The upgrade to these boots was akin to foot-nirvana. I tried on a ton of boots and ended up going with these and have been happy ever since.

    everything but the laces

Just returned from a 5 day hike in kings canyon and have to say the boots performed great. The laces on the other hand were a joke. luckily I had some thinner paracord I could use as replacements to get me by. I did'nt even have 50 miles on them before the first lace broke, and the other one was the next day.

I've been a big fan of my Vasque Breeze boots for a while but I noticed some foot fatigue after hiking 10-15 miles on rocky trails with any weight on my back. I decided to try the Sagas since they seemed to be a bit more substantial backpacking boot vs dayhike like the Breeze. I did a 10 mile test run with ~30 lbs on my back and was incredibly happy with them, my feet didn't even feel remotely sore. These boots fit very similar to the Breeze boots but have a bit higher ankle protection and a better shank/more grippy sole. Out of the box comfort was impressive, no breaking in was required. Hiking in 100° FL heat and the boots felt fine, GTX boots are never going to be cool but I was very content with how my feet felt (socks barely had any sweat dampness when I took off the boot) My only complaint is that the laces are thin and make it a pain to get a good tight fit. They dig in to your fingers when you try to grab them and pull tight, I would prefer the flat laces that some other Vasque boots have. If you have wide feet these might be a little tight but since mine are a bit more narrow I was very happy with the fit.
