Disappointed

I have had these about 4 months. They run wide. They have a lot of ankle support (maybe too much), insulation is pretty good, and lightweight. But, the biggest issue was the claim "waterproof", they are not. I recently stepped in a puddle for the first time and once it reached the mesh my foot was wet. I am so disappointed. I have had a couple of pairs of Breeze style and never had this. For the money, definite let down. I would not buy them. In fact this left me doubtful to purchase Vasque boots again.

Excellent Three-Season Boot

I have put over 1,000 miles of winter walking and hiking on my Coldsparks. I wear them 5 days a week walking to work during the 6 months of winter here in Montana. They are my go-to boot for winter hikes as well. They were comfortable out of the box and still provide great support and traction several years later. They are plenty warm and keep my feet dry in rain and snow. I highly recommend this boot for anyone looking to put some miles on in the winter. I plan to replace mine with a new pair before next winter.

Not Dry... Not Warm

I bought these in January of 2020 for snowshoeing and winter hiking. I was initially pleased with the performance during active wear. A trip to Yellowstone provided a sub-zero shakedown, which confirmed reviews I'd read about the limitations of the boot's insulating ability below 25 degrees. No matter the sock combination there was no staying warm at those temps, even when active. After 1 season of wear and now starting the second I can report that the boots are no longer 'waterproof.' Hikes in snow, with or without gaiters, produce wet socks within a hour or so. There is also a very noticeable cold penetrating up through the sole. I've been a Vasque customer since the late 1970s. They've been a go-to, no matter the style, as I have always found them to fit my narrow foot extremely well. The fit and traction of these has been very good. I wasn't expecting great warmth, below 25 degrees, but I was expecting the boots to remain dry and provide warmth above those temps. The boots are pretty much worthless for multi-day trip use due to the need to constantly be removing the foot-beds to dry. them out. Very disappointed and now in the market for a better performing replacement.

Excellent boot

I bought these after seeing they were recommended by the Vasque Ambassadors, Charlie Gage and Bruce Kirby, and I love the boots. Let me qualify this by saying I'm no outdoorsman; I wear these boots for everyday use including 3-mile walks in the frequently icy/slushy Chicago Winter evenings. They required no break-in period and were extremely comfortable right away (much more comfortable than my Salomon's). They're light weight with good traction in the snow and slush. I have not immersed them completely, but last Winter they kept my feet dry. They keep my feet warm as long as I'm moving and the temperature is above 0-10 degrees. However, during the polar vortex, it's time for the clunky Sorel's and the walks aren't fun.

Not waterproof

I enjoyed these for about 9 hikes during the winter. Had no problem with snow and slush. But then I had to make a small creek crossing during the spring melt. The water was not moving quickly and was only just above the bottom of the boot. Immediately my feet were wet. My socks were soaked. The pants I was wearing were still bone dry. Do not recommend if you are looking for a waterproof boot.

Does the job, break-in time

It's much like a sneaker, which is nice. My heavy snowshoeing boots just don't have the same flexibility and are not meant to either. Waterproof so far, fairly comfortable. I've learned in the past that Vasque depend on a break-in time. One thing I've never seen before is that two of my toes actually bled after taking them an hour dog walk to test them. I concluded that you may want to add a half a size. With socks, my toes were slammes together pretty roughly. I attributed that to the break-in period, but when i saw my feet it was clear these are definitely snug when you get your regular size. I'm an 11.5 and have not had any issue similar to this in my recollection for two decades. If you need a flexible, waterprood, lightly insulated boot, I'd consider this one. I would also not make it top of my list.

Nice Boot But....

I couldn't wait for this boot to arrive after ordering it. All the reviews were great and I was looking forward to a nice, lightweight, comfortable, warm, waterproof boot. When they arrived they looked great and appeared to be well built. I put them on and noticed right away they were really tight, especially in the forefoot area. I normally get my shoes with a little bit of space so I can wear a variety of socks with them and also to allow for swelling toward the end of the day. I wear the Vasque Juxt shoes for my everyday and love them. (except the fact I can only get them in one color for my size 11.5 Wide) Since those shoes fit loose, I figured I would get the same size. (Same shoe company, I figure same size) Wrong. So, alas, I had to send them back instead of exchanging them for a different size because wides are no longer available in other sizes. I probably would really like them if they fit. Vasque shoes have always been great for me just not these.
