Bike shop in a bag.
Being able to work on your bike is a valuable skill. It saves time and money by reducing or eliminating bike shop maintenance trips, means you won't ever have a problem that keeps you off the bike for longer than it takes you to fix it (which anyone who's had a ride cancelled due to a simple mechanical while the shops are closed can appreciate), and it's just a lot of fun. The Unior Competitive Cyclist Travel Tool Kit gives you all the tools you'll need to perform basic maintenance on your machine.
Your wheels and brakes will enjoy the attentions of the brake disc separator and triple spoke wrench. The 13 x 14 cone wrenches, though rarely used these days, are indispensable when adjusting cones on the old Campagnolo Record hubs for that '80s bike restoration you've been working on for so many years.
You can use the chain wear indicator to determine when it's time to replace the chain, and the screw-type chain tool facilitates doing so. It also works with Campagnolo 11-speed chains. The kit also includes a chain whip and a special Shimano/SRAM lockring tool to adjust what the chain turns. The 15 x 15 chrome vanadium pedal wrench lets you pick and choose how you transfer power to the chain. It's drop forged, tempered, and chrome plated for durability.
The items you'll probably use the most are the nine chrome vanadium hex wrenches, which come in a spread of sizes from 1.5 to 10 millimeters. The Phillips screwdriver and tire wrenches are exactly what you'd expect, nothing more and nothing less, and the included bike bag folds everything up in a small, compact size for easy storage and transportation.

- Q & A
Good compact kit
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I keep this in the trunk of my car in case I forget to adjust something before I arrive at the trail head. Some of the tool options are a bit weird (who is going to use a cone wrench or cable cutter for a quick fix?) but the allen keys and screwdrivers are nice to have. Plus it comes in a nice compact pouch that takes up no room in the trunk.
For the part-time wrench.
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I'm not much of a mechanic, and I mostly rely on my LBS for big projects. But when it comes to basic maintenance (swapping a cassette, setting up a cockpit, or just running a new set of cables) this tool kit gets the job done. Just add a weekend afternoon and a beer, and you'll be set for pretty much any bike project short of pressing in a new BB.
The tools are high-quality, and they've already withstood a year of my fumbling abuse without exhibiting any signs of wear. The one noticeable absence is a set of Torx wrenches.
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Tools are high quality, well made. It makes it perfect to find it when needed all in one organized pouch.
