    Telescopic Pole

Union's Telescopic Pole is one of the few poles out there actually designed for splitboarding. It collapses into three sections for easy packing when it's time to ride, and its length adjusts thanks to the secure locking mechanism. The grip extends down the pole to help you on steep switch backs and awkward kick turns. Union made the powder basket stiffer so it won't fold over when you're flipping your binding's heel risers. The Telescopic Pole provides a strong and sturdy aluminum construction that shouldn't snap in half.

Pretty good, but they need a few tweaks

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought these to replace a pair of tried-and-true Black Diamond Expedition 3s. Having recently acquired an airbag, I needed poles capable of collapsing down small enough to fit in my pack (so I don™t have to worry about poles strapped on the outside puncturing the airbag when deployed).

My 4-star review is based primarily on the powder baskets, which prevent the poles from being collapsed down neatly. The issue is that baskets are standard, in that they span 360 degrees around the pole, which makes it impossible to keep the broken down pole segments tight to each other. Notched powder baskets similar to the Burton x Black Diamond poles would address the issue.

The other problem is that the poles feel a little loose. I understand why they had to build some tolerance in to the connections/joints, but I wish they were a little tighter.

Overall, solid splitboard oriented poles that will serve you well. That said, if I had to do it again, I would spend the extra loot to get the Burton x Black Diamond poles.

    Unanswered Question

What is the length of these when fully broken down? I need some that will fit in my pack not on the outside.
