    Strata Snowboard Binding

The Strata Snowboard Binding represents the new standard for how a snowboard binding should function and perform thanks to its industry-first bushing system that's insanely light, strong, and maneuverable for everything from pipe, to park to powder. These bushings use Fused Vaporlite, a new material made through an injection-molding process very similar to the way plastic parts are created, to give you a far more waterproof, durable, and precise design than any other EVA material on the market today.

The Fused Vaporlite bushing system rides on the Stage 6 Duraflex ST baseplate platform, which is unbelievably light, strong, and responsive, and pairs with a 3D Extruded Aluminum heelcup that stiffens the entire chassis for a seamless edge-to-edge turn initiation. All of this means, essentially, that the Strata knows where you're going before you do. Then, Union redesigned the Forma ankle straps for a stronger, more responsive outside and a more comfortable, cushioned inside, while the multi-positional options and thermoplastic anti-slip material of the UltraGrip X toe strap keeps you locked in and on point. A medium-flexing Strata highback rounds things out with its tool-less forward lean adjustments to make on-the-fly adaptability as good as it gets.

    Nice bushings.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The new bushing material that Union is using on the Strata is incredible. It's a fused Vapolite material that is injected. The bushing is very damp. You get great board feel under your foot with this binding. The Forma straps are extremely comformtable as well. This is a great resort binding since the bushing will dampen the firmest groomers and buff out the park as well.
    Team high back!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've been snowboarding for almost two decades now. I've seen a lot of good binding designs, and I've also seen a lot of HORRIBLE binding designs. I would go as far to say this is the best binding I have ever ridden! It's comfy and sleek - it looks like a supercar full of pillows and rides like one too. I was a big fan of the Contact Pro binding prior to riding these and these are sort of the next evolution of the Contact Pro. The biggest difference between the two bindings is the Fused Vaporlite bushing that lies under foot on the Strata. This material is new to Union and it doesn't use any sort of glue as it is fused together within the binding chassis, so it is much more sustainable and durable. Also, I noticed snow does NOT stick to this magic material so that is a plus. The Vaporlite bushing goes under and over the edge of the binding chassis to really give you a surfy feel and maximum tweakabilty to your grabs all while being supportive enough to rail turns and stay stable yet damp in the chop. I ride this binding in EVERY condition and on EVERY board, from surfy powder sticks, to wet noodle park boards to beefy cambered chargers. So if you're looking for the ultimate all mountain freestyle binding, the strata is definitely a game changer for how a snowboard binding should perform and function everywhere on the mountain.

    The new Contact Pro

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The Contact pro has been a staple in the Union line for so long, but its kind of old tech now. The Strata brings the same mentality that the Contact pro had, which is good flex and board feel under foot, but makes it a much better all around binding. The new bushing under the foot is super squishy and comfortable, and it won't pack out over time like eva foam. This binding has more edge to edge response in comparison, but still gives plenty of flex nose to tail to keep that skate-style feel. Watch some videos and you will notice most of the Union team on these now.

Why does it say exclusive above the binding? Strata is everywhere. What is exclusive about it? Is this the latest 2020 model of the Strata?
