Great tool for when your hands are full

Fly Removing for fat fingers

If you've got fat fingers that don't normally fit in pliers/hemostats these are the ticket. I am not particularly dexterous, and have fat fingers and hands that just get stuck using hemos with finger holes. I have used these for a few years now and they work amazingly well at removing tiny midges to big ol' salmon flies.

Not a fan

I bought these because they were the only ones that included a scissor as well as a clamp. It turns out that the design without the fingerholds is quite difficult to use. Once the pliers are clamped shut it's really difficult to get them open again, which is not ideal when trying to unhook a floppy fish. In addition, I found that the scissors didn't work all that well, which pretty much defeated the purpose of getting these in the first place.

Aubrey--I agree regarding the scissors (not great) but disagree that they are hard to open. I've found that with mine, if you just give them a gentle squeeze, they lock and if you give them a firmer squeeze, they unlock nicely. It takes a bit of practice (at first, I tried to open them by trying to separate the teeth 'outwards' which is super awkward; once I learned to just squeeze, they became my favorites). I hope this trick works for you as well.
