Redox Down Parka

The UBR Redox Down Parka mixes alpine-worthy protection into a style suitable for the finest occasions in the city. Its Regulator membrane has some of the highest waterproof, breathable ratings available in the outdoor industry, and UBR integrated the membrane into a high-class, clean, luxurious style. UBR also added a DWR coating for extra protection against rain and snow. UBR's patented White Heat construction places 800-fill down insulation inside the Redox for sufficient warmth in sub-zero temperatures, With a fill of 800, this parka's insulation is loftier than most down jackets and surprisingly warm for the parka's Exceptional Lightness. Its horizontal baffling balances the down across the parka to eliminate any cold spots.

Perfect except for the pockets

I love this coat; it is fashionable enough to wear with a suit, very warm and comfortable. The main weakness is the lack of large pockets. Ideally, I would like to put my wool hat, gloves and scarf into pockets, but I can only fit one glove per pocket; I sometimes manage to force the hat with one glove into one pocket, but then I can barely close the zipper when I do that. They should have added a very large pocket on the inside of the coat to put the scarf or hat. There is a tiny internal pocket in the lining, large enough to put car keys, but too small for anything else. For a $1200 coat, the lack of large pockets is a major deficiency for me. I normally wear a size M, but for this coat, I had to order a size L as it runs small. There two small additional pockets to keep hands warm, but I find them too high and too shallow to be comfortable. Water-resistant: I wore the coat in heavy rain for half an hour and remained dry and warm. The coat is not fully waterproof; it took 2-3 hours for it to dry at home, but it is highly water-resistant. I wish the hood would be 1 inch longer in the front to fully protect glasses from the rain.

Great with one caveat

Very soft, comfortable, and elegant coat, perfect except for people with long arms, like me. Usually tailored or slim fit XL works for me, but with this coat the sleeves are slightly short, and tend to ride up a bit, with a lot of arm movement like when reaching for something. Everything else about the coat is ideal. I tried XXL but it no longer had the nice tailored look. I'm rating it 5 stars because the problem is my longer arms, not with the coat.

This is such a perfect jacket for anyone needing/wanting a clean sleek look, but extreme warmth and protection from the elements. It looks clean enough to wear with a suit, but simple enough to just wear casually as well. It is crazy warm, and the fit and finish is all so nice that it just feels great to wear. My favorite part is definitely the hand warmer pockets positioned above the normal hand pockets. Instead of zippers they just have magnets to hold them shut, so you can slide your hands in and out super easily and without the discomfort of a zipper against your wrist. The fabric is also incredibly soft and supple for being waterproof. Still slightly "swooshy", but definitely the least "swooshy" jacket I have found that's actually water proof which is a huge plus to me. Fit is definitely tailored/trim. I'm 6' 195lbs and wear a 42r jacket. The Large fits be perfectly with just a t-shirt, but has almost no room. The XL, which I picked, gives me just enough room for some layers while still looking good and not over-sized. If you're on the fence, I would definitely recommend going with the bigger size. Layers aren't necessary with how warm this is, but realistically I usually have some sort of long sleeve shirt or coat that I want to be wearing at my destination so I want to be able to fit that under this. I'm marking it as a "true to size" because I think it fits exactly how they intended it to, very trim and fashionable. But for us Americans used to some more breathing room it might be considered "runs small". The only downside of this jacket is that you won't be able to use the "sorry it's too cold to leave my house" excuse anymore to get out of undesirable dinner arrangements. It also isn't easy on the wallet, but for the finish quality and design perfection it is well worth the investment if it's within your budget. Oh, and how cool is it to have something a little different than everyone else on the street? If you aren't familiar, Ubr is a small brand based in Oslo, Norway. I love that it looks a bit unique and has an interesting story to it compared to the other popular options in this category.

I commute in downtown Chicago and for many years I have sought out the warmest winter wear I can find. This coat is the warmest and most well made coat I’ve ever owned. A sweater underneath is unnecessary despite a 10 degree windchill to date. The coat is smart looking in black and it’s logo very subtle. The fur collar eliminates the need for a scarf. The hood fits perfectly without a drawstring or closer. It stays in place despite the wind and keeps my head warm without a hat and can be worn or removed without difficulty. Every feature of the coat is well thought out and expertly assembled, using top quality materials. The only caution is the fit. I think that I would order a size larger if you plan to wear a suit or sport coat underneath.

Great Jacket for Urban Living

Got this jacket for my brother in-law who typically dresses up in a suit/tie to go to work. He was a little apprehensive that people would think he worked for Uber the car company. Other than that he absolutely loves the jacket. It's warm and stylish. The fit is just right on his slim figure. He also wears it out on casual occasions as well.

The Uber Redox is the best winter jacket I have ever owned and I'm incredibly picky. The Redox is warmer than any jacket I've had or tried and I've tried all of the premier outdoors and fashion brands. The combination of the down, water and wind-proofing has kept me warm in single digit temperatures. Two other things are really important to me: fit and lack of branding. The fit, for me at least, is perfect. The stretch fabric means that the jacket looks impeccably tailored whether I have a t-shirt or heavy sweater on under it. In terms of branding, I would never wear a jacket with some huge logo on it; I find that particularly offensive on coats that I may want to wear over a suit for work. The Redox is perfect. It's worth noting that while the chest branding may look prominent in the pictures, it's very hard to see (I own the blue and gray). It's some sort of reflective paint that is only really visible when light hits it from a particular angle; most of the time it's barely visible. This plus the fit enables the jacket to fit in equally well over a suit as over casual wear. Last comment is that I love pockets and was excited to find that there's a hidden zippered pocket in the lining that is not mentioned here or on the Uber website. See pic!
