Nice, but sized small
Be careful with the sizing. I wear a large or medium in every other garment, but the large I received here was way too small. I couldn't even fold my arms across the chest. Seconding the other review here: unless you're extremely lanky, absolutely get a larger size than you normally aim for. Besides that not-so-minor complaint I was quite satisfied. The shell runs long (to lower thigh on me), something I tend to like, and the feel and seams are both good quality. Something to be aware of, however, is that the internal liner does not have its own fasteners; its snaps cannot connect side to side, meaning that if worn without the shell the liner cannot hold itself closed.

Versatile work horse.
Needed an everyday coat to go over suits/blazers for my commute. The price of this coat can be a bit jarring at first glance but you have to realize it as a 3 season coat (Primaloft liner is removable) so really the price reflects your winter parka and your fall/spring trench. In addition the quality of material and craftsmanship are outstanding! I am 5'10, 180, 40 chest, 33 waist, 16.5 neck and the large fits me everywhere perfect with the exception of the sleeve length being a bit long. I remedied this by tailoring the ~0.5 inch of sleeve that isn't reached by the liner and now it's perfect. The black color is timeless and I see no reason I'll purchase another overcoat for work within the next 5 years and realistically much longer. It looks just as good with a suit on my way to work as it does jeans and a sweater on my way to dinner or sweats on my way to the gym. The only reason to be skeptical of this coat is the price and I get that. So I bought it knowing full well if I didn't love it I would be able to return it with Backcountrys easy return policy. In addition, with purchases this large a Backcountry rep contacts you directly over the phone so you have a real person to work with in case you need to return/exchange.

More specs on this beautiful jacket.

Hi Emily, your spec above says 20k g/24h breathability but the tech spec in the jacket above makes no mention of 20k g/24h breathability, also the label in the coat does not say breathable, it says warm, light, waterproof etc, but not breathable. I'm curious is it really "20k g/24h breathable? surely this would be advertised in bold type as its a key factor for any winter coat to keep rain out while letting perspiration out from the inside -

for example , to my other comment, the redox coat you sell shows the following , including 20k breathability rating. does this mean the redox is 20k breathable but the storm is not ? Reddox tech spec Material [membrane/laminate] Regulator, [collar] fur Insulation 800-fill down Waterproof Rating 20,000 mm Breathability Rating 20,000 g/m²

Watch the Sizing
I am a L in North Face, Patagonia - every coat I've ever had as an adult. The L in this was way too tight in the shoulders and arms - no way I could have worn it with layers underneath. I'm turning it for a XL and will report back on sizing.
