Tested with heavy crash

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer
Fit:
True to size

Pretty comfortable though isn't the softest directly against skin especially against chest hair. Getting to the point, I had a very heavy moto crash (broken pelvis, hand, double dislocated shoulders) in this and everything it covered was ok. My chest and ribs were sore from the hit but the pads took up a bunch of the impact so nothing broke. Also had several trips onto my shoulders and back before that wreck where I just popped back up and was totally fine. Even as great as it helps it's quite bulky so I save it for bike park days when it's not too hot and run lighter protection on hot days or anytime I'm going to be doing any amount of pedaling. I also recommend bringing it into the shower after every use to keep the stink down as it can get pretty funky. If you want maximum protection that's not a hard shell and is pretty comfortable this is your best choice IMO.

Provides protection down to your belly which is essential if you end up mixing with your bike while casing jumps. I could not find any other protection that would protect the area around your spleen, which is a popular place for mountain bikers to become internally injured after a spill. This should probably be a five rating but the shirt does end up stinky, it takes some time to dry it out after a good day riding, and it gets super hot when it’s over 80.

comfy and a good fit but once it smells it never goes away! Not sure how much protection a little bit of foam is going to give u when you crash either..

Comfortable affordable protection.

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Wanted something to step up my defence riding the bike park at North star. I feel that this offers a fair amount of protection for the cost and weight. Also it's very comfortable to wear. I would recommend it. 5' 9" 190 pounds and got a large which fits really well.
