Trango Beta Stick

This stick clip is great for climbers who need that little confidence booster when sticking in the first clip. I was amazed at how long the stick extended and rigidity. When full extended, the stick can be a little flimsy but it still works, just needs a little more patience and skills. It’s versatile in accepting most traditional carabiner sizes. There are exceptions such as the petzl ange. The coating does scratch easily on rocks and other sharp objects, but i’m not worried about the aesthetics. The stick did have some manufacturing smell that required some airing out. Overall, I would recommend this stick to anyone looking for the added security for sport climbing. It’s not the lightest stick but does compact pretty well.

I could see this being wobbly maxed out + loaded but keeping the standard size and not fully extending any of the joints gives a solid stick to reach with.

Shortly after I bought this the head broke off. It is too expensive to throw away, so I tried glueing the head on. Eventually, I found some glue that will hold it in place without breaking. Besides this weakness in construction, I often find this stick clip too short to be really useful. As mentioned in another review, when it is fully extended it is wobbly and not super sturdy, which makes it more difficult to use. I am going to replace this stick clip with a painters pole and a superclip.

Much easier than hunting around for the right tree branch to reach a sketchy first bolt. I really like the telescoping design and it fits in my pack easily enough. Definitely worth the money

I felt lame buying this at first but it as really handy and makes climbing outside a lot safer

I pretty much only climb outdoor sport in the cottonwood canyons. Occasionally I'll venture elsewhere though. I hate when you show up to a spot and realize the starting bolt is no where near safe. Enter this device. It's compact enough to throw in your crag pack, while being able to extend pretty far. Helps me feel safe climbing, which is my top concern. I will say it take a little bit of play to use it optimally. I'm still learning. I give it 5 stars because I haven't seen anything better at similar price.

While it's definitely on the pricier end for an arguably unnecessary tool, this stick clip has been a great accessory to my cragging. As noted in another review, it's super easy to travel with; I try to fly carry on with all my climbing gear, and I've flown with this stick clip a handful of times. Never had an issues. Even when you're keeping it local, it fits nicely in or on your backpack; or, clip it to your harness.

If you just need a very budget, basic stick clip, sure, go with the painters pole (or whatever you call them). But if you're looking for something a little more functional and easy to travel with, I'd recommend this guy.

I bought the compact size. It's often times too short for the routes where I feel I really want a stick clip. The stick itself is pretty nice but is a bit floppy if you extend it all the way. Seems way overpriced to me.

I've had this stick for a bit over a year now. If you are looking to do some traveling (aircraft) for sport-climbing, this is a great option as it is easy to fit into luggage and extends to a good length. It is also very lightweight will stow on the side of a reasonably size cragging-pack for hiking (versus having to carry the stick itself). It is quite pricey and a bit dainty (could bend/break pretty easily, and the top section does not want to lock into place easily anymore)...but all in all, I think it is worth it if you are doing any climbing trips involving flying.

I've definitely seen folks strap one of these to their harness and climb using it!! Thats not how I roll but it seems like a great application! I use mine for bouldering for a stick brush and its soooooo totally worth it!

I love these because they are so easy to carry, and they do the job of stick clipping perfectly. I usually just strap this to my pack so my hands are free on the approach, and I have even flown with mine (just toss it in the back of the overhead bin as your "personal item")
