    Terra'up the trails.

Whether you're ho-hum about your last pair of trail running sneakers, or seeking something with a little extra room, the Topo Athletic Women's Terraventure Trail Running Shoe provides adaptive performance and a comfortable fit. More specifically, the Topo Athletic shoes emphasize a fit that effectively molds to the shape of your foot (providing a personalized fit and feel). To achieve this, Topo Athletic utilizes a low heel-to-toe drop, roomy toe box, and lightweight materials to create shoes that are barely notcieable.

The Terraventure sits in the middle of Topo Athletic's trail line for women, meaning it's not as light as the feathery MT-2, and doesn't have the waterproofing of the Hydroventure—but it still touts the same, dependable toe box and low heel-to-toe drop. Additionally, it features a burlier outsole that makes it ideal more rugged trails than ones the MT-2 was developed for, which is bolstered by its deep rubber lugs and a rock plate to protect against sharp jabs. And of course, Topo crafts the Terraventure with uppers almost identical to its siblings. Seamless and heavy on airy mesh, the Terraventure's uppers won't trap heat around your toes on a sticky summer day, but they feature just enough support to keep your midfoot locked securely in place for stability.

    • Mix up your routine with this lightweight trail shoe
    • Neutral design provides unencumbered performance
    • Minimal 3mm drop caters to a midfoot-forefoot strike
    • Wide toe box and mesh uppers aim to reduce hot spots
    • Lugged rubber outsole digs in on slick singletrack
    • Newcomer Topo Athletic creates running shoes that provide a natural fit

    My Wife Loves Them.

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Bought these shoes for my wife for trail running. They are very different than other running shoes with the low drop and wide toe box but if you like having space for your toes, these feel amazing. The low drop may take a bit of getting used to but she hasn't had a problem with it. Overall she is really enjoying them so far.

    Great thru-hiking shoe

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I used the Terraventures exclusively on my 2018 PCT thru-hike, and I am also an ambassador for Topo Athletic, so i'd say i'm pretty familiar with this shoe. Here's what I think.
My favorite thing about this shoe is the wide toe box. I have pretty wide feet and they are prone to blisters. Finding a shoe for my thru-hike was quite the process that involved many returns. As soon as I took this shoe on a hike I knew it was awesome. No blisters right out of the box.
Second. I love the 3mm drop. I don't feel like my heels are going to come out of my shoe because my foot is at a much more neutral position. I feel more grounded in these shoes than in 12mm drop shoes that I have tried.
Third. The EVA foam padding and rock plate are life savers! Since I used this shoe exclusively for hiking, I encountered a lot of sharp rock. There were times that I had to walk over lava rock beds for hours (very sharp) and my feet were extremely thankful for the extra support and protection. The foam gave me some bounce back and the rock plate helped to prevent bruising.

I put roughly 500-700 miles on each pair of shoes that I wore on the trail, walking 20+ miles a day in them. If I were to change one thing about the shoe it would be to make some reinforcements to areas of high use. The part of the shoe that bends at the front was always the first thing to develop a hole, and I had some problems with the inner fabric near the heel fraying.

Other than that I am extremely happy with this shoe. I hope that more thru-hikers find this shoe as an alternative to Altras (which are extremely popular on trail due to their wide toe box).
