Never tried Topo Shoes before and am so glad I did! I usually wear an 8.5, but I ordered a 9 and they fit great. Was a tad disappointed because the picture made them look green or 'emerald' but they are really bright aqua. Still love them though!

I've nvr tried this brand, but decided to take a chance. These are my new go to shoes. The toe box is square and roomy, lightweight, but solid footing for trails. I've received compliments on them several times. Looking to buy another pair.

Worth It. Roomy Toe Box + Varied Terrain

I bought this shoe to hike Rim To Rim at the Grand Canyon. My Altra Superiors are great for anything under 15 miles but I needed something with more cushion for my trip. Because I have a curved toe box, I need a shoe with a roomy toe box. The last few years, Altra is the only brand that has fit for both road and trail shoes. The Lone Peak were too big in the toe box and Timps were too big in the toe box and heel. Although I could have made due, both felt sloppy. I tried other brands but nothing fit. Then I learned about Topo's from reading running shoe reviews, I think initially it was Runner’s World. Hurrah. Another shoe with a roomy toe box. I usually wear a 9 1/2 but they were too short so had to purchase a size 10, luckily that solved the length without becoming too big everywhere else. I would say cushioning is equivalent to the Lone Peak. The shoe doesn’t have a rock plate, which I knew. The shoe did great for the R2R terrain - definitely tricky footing but not sharp rocks. I bought these shoes days before my trip and only broke them In for about an hour at the gym before my trip. I had no issues with them. The uppers are stiffer than Altra’s, so you notice it initially, but it loosened up after my gym workout (hopefully the uppers will last longer than Altra’s do.) I have Dirty Girl Gaiters and they worked great with the shoe. I just clipped the gaiter on the top shoelace and we attached Velcro on the back of the shoe. I will use these shoes for my non-rugged long trail runs, day hikes, and backpacking shoe on easy trails.
