Topo Athletic MT-3 Trail Running Shoe - Men's

MT-3 Trail Running Shoe

Sometimes you stick to running the roads, but when a nice open trail peaks out at you from off the side of your local bike path you've got no choice but to follow it. Designed as a trail shoe that has no problem hanging on the road, the Topo Athletic MT-3 Trail Running Shoe works as a solid everyday trainer for those who never know for sure where they'll be running. This shoe utilizes Topo Athletic's anatomical design by giving you a roomier toe box and low drop to promote a healthier and more efficient stride, and now features midfoot drainage ports that dry your shoes quickly after you stomp through puddles and shallow creeks.

A cushioned midsole and Ortholite footbed keep your feet comfortable and also attenuate shock as you run, while a sticky rubber outsole delivers all the grip you need on rocky and variable terrain. And although the outsole lugs are deep enough to dig into soft dirt trails, they're configured in a way that won't feel uncomfortable when your trail shoots you back out onto the road.

  • Lightweight trail shoe that can also shoot back onto the road
  • Low drop and roomy toe box let your foot move naturally as you run
  • Sticky rubber outsole makes it easy to hop from rock to rock
  • Cushioned midsole offers comfortable support for long miles
  • Midfoot drainage ports help your feet dry quicker on wet trails
  • Ripstop mesh upper balances durability and breathability
  • Outsole lugs dig in on the trail but don't feel to bulky on pavement

When you find the shoe that works, keep buying it. I was reviewing my retired shoes on Strava, and the MT3s routinely get at least 350 miles before I replace them. La Sportiva and Salomon have never gotten more than 300 with some Sportiva models never breaking 200. The only other shoe that comes close for me are Inov-8s, but the Topos, especially the MT3, are more comfortable. I have one pair with La Sportiva spikes in the sole for running in snow and ice, essential here until the end of May.
