Designing pedals is a delicate balance of foot position, ease of entry and release, and weight. However, after leading the clipless movement from its inception, TIME has proven itself to be no novice when it comes to pedal technology and engineering. Case in point are TIME's new Xpresso 4 Pedals. By delivering on the aforementioned features, the Xpresso 4 Pedals continue to keep TIME at the front of the peloton by optimizing all the key factors.
The Iclic concept enables this pedal to provide fast engagement without any rubbing. It automatically pre-opens the engagement mechanism so that your foot is quickly released with minimum effort. The oversized composite platform aides clipping in by guiding the cleat, and its aerodynamic shape keeps drag at a minimum.
Like the composite body, the use of TIME's patented carbon flexion blades, instead of the traditional metal springs, keeps weight at a minimum. For fine tuning, the Xpresso 4 allows you to dial angular movement for individual preference. This means that you can tighten or loosen the pedals with +/- 5 degrees of float.
Not only can you widely adjust the pedal's angular float, but the Xpresso has 2.5mm of lateral movement and an adjustable Q-factor. So, you can set the foot's lateral positioning inboard or outboard depending on your pedaling goals. And while these attributes are great, our favorite feature has to be TIME's BIOPOSITION Concept. This design reduces the distance from the sole to the pedal axle for a direct and efficient power transfer through the pedal.

its about TIME
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I've used many many other pedals, and never really loved any of them. but once i got these, i fell in love at first clip. so so easy to get in and out of, a solid CLICK when you're engaged. easy to get out of with just a little twist of the heel.
great platform to push off, these pedals also seem solid for how light they are.
Great road pedal

Easy to clip in and out. Great power transfer. Cleats are a little clunky to walk around in.

I'm new to using road pedals, so I picked these up for their easier clip-in actuation and release mechanism than most road pedal systems. They seem really well made, but I'll have to update as time goes on.

In my opinion the Xpresso 4 is the best value, great quality to weight ratio at a very reasonable price!
To hell with titanium and carbon.

You could pay a lot more for pedals with carbon bodies and titanium widgets, but the saved grams aren't worth the $$$ to me. The Xpresso 4 are Time's best blend of reliability and weight.

this is my 2nd set of time pedals, and i will continue to buy more later on. they are super easy to get in and out of, they hold tight until you need to get out . and the important part, they are comfy to ride with, for long amounts of time.

A small crack developed on one of the leaf springs and CC dealt with it promptly. Really didn't affect the performance but CC insisted. Amazing service from Duncan Britt!!!

Well let me add a note here that I have always been a Shimano SPD-SL guy. On my recent Orbea purchase of full carbon bike I made a decision to try something new. That being the Time IClic system pedal (Xpresso 4). These fit the bill but I had reservations due to some feedback that they were easy to break. Okay..............such a subjective case here of "easy to break". Some people are just hammerheads with things. Installed and set the tension and began riding them. So far great. Love the lateral movement and they have easy entry and exit. Time will tell on durability however. So for right now I would say I like them and would continue to use them. Things I dislike......the tension screw is made of plastic<?????WTH! They should have made this of a hardened steel. Why you ask??? When I use a screwdriver to adjust it, it messed up the flimsy head. Why would they do this???? Well to cut out weight but one tiny miniscule screw does not weigh JACK! OK, done complaining.

Is there a way to tighten the axle on these pedals? mine are loose and its very annoying when cycling as they clunk and feel like they jolt downwards when at top of the pedal stroke.
Hi James. There isn't a way to tighten the axle, only the amount of float. If the pedals are feeling excessively loose, it would be a good idea to tightened the float, and check to ensure the pedals is threaded tightly securely into your crank-arms. My left Time Xpresso 4 pedal makes a...
My left Time Xpresso 4 pedal makes a squeaking noise. Tightening the cleat helped some but it's still there. The right pedal doesn't make the same noise. Any suggestions?
I would try taking the cleat screws out and lightly greasing the threading. Also, if the cleats are old and worn, this could cause squeaking. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me directly. brett@competitivecyclist.com
i got the pedal and love them. But there...
i got the pedal and love them. But there are two screws on the bottom of the pedal that hold the plate on the pedal. i have lost them both on one pedal making a lot of sound. do you know the specs on those screws.
