    T2 Classic

Full-squish trail rigs and fat tire bruisers have a reputation for toughness, but deep down inside they're actually big softies, especially the carbon ones. Realizing this, the Thule T2 Classic 2 Bike Hitch Rack safely transports your favorite enduro sleds, fat tire steeds, and even road bikes. In fact, this versatile rack secures bikes ranging from smaller 20 inch versions all the way up to 29 inch wheels, holding massive tires up to 5 inches wide on fat tire bikes.

Frame-free ratcheting arms secure the front tires without scratching up your carbon trail whips or transmitting road vibration through their frames. Wider wheel trays accommodate a wide variety of bikes, with a ratcheting rear wheel strap keeping the rear end firmly secure. These trays are fully adjustable, allowing you to slide them back and forth to eliminate any bike rubbing.

The SnugTite attachment locks the rack to the hitch, so thieves won't take off with your sweet rack. One Key System compatibility (sold separately) allows the ratcheting arms to lock down over your bike's front tire to deter theft. Plus, its HitchSwitch gives you the ability to fold it up when it's not in use, also providing a backwards tilt for rear-trunk access without painstakingly unloading the bikes.

best bang for the buck and then some

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I wanted a new rack and had some sticker shock at the price of transporting 4 bikes! I'd had a much older version of the Thule T2 and after a little research went with a new one. Thule makes racks.. that's what they do and they do a great job. This fits our mtb's, road, and tri bikes rock solid. Would definitely recommend.

    It's a Classic

Over the years I have used just about every hitch rack option on the market. Still to this day the T2 Classic is my favorite. Simply put, it just works. It doesn't tout any fancy bells or whistles but offers everything you need. The trays can be offset to ensure that your bikes aren't rubbing while in transport, and the rear strap can be adjusted to accommodate larger or smaller wheel sizes.

If you're in the market for an affordable rack I'd recommend this one.

      Rock Solid

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Easy to use, sturdy, & can handle anything from a road bike to a 27.5 Plus MTB. Even came with the locking pin to the hitch. Great value, great rack.

I wanted something that was easy enough for my wife to place her bike on, something that had locks built in, and something that was sturdy enough for off-roading. So far this rack has met all of my expectations. I failed to research a little more to know the rack doesn't actually come with locks, but a spot where you can install some (sold separately). Overall im very impressed with the quality and the thought that went into making sure it holds bikes without beating things up. I highly recommend this rack.

      Great bike rack

Went with this rack because of all the great reviews I read and heard on Thule hitch bike racks. I thought about going with the pro version since it does have the more convenient handle to lower the rack while attached to the vehicle, but couldn't justify the extra cost. I looked at other racks and felt that they were not as high of quality. I feel like this rack (plus the add-on) will be all that I need to buy, and hopefully be hassle free. Super excited about the ease of putting my bikes on a hitch rack vs a roof rack!

        Great Value

Great value in a hitch mount rack. Easy to unpack, assemble, and install, and very easy to use. Securely holds bikes with no points of contact on the frame. Real sweet deal for a value based hitch mount rack, do yourself a favor, stop reading and buy one already.

        So Far SO Good

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Have been using this rack about two months now and have had no issues including one couple hundred mile trip to Moab. The selling points for me were the rack fitting a 2 inch receiver without an adapter, and being able to fully lower the tailgate without hitting the rack (with the bikes off).

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Love the classic. Never had an issue with bikes on this thing. I beat the piss out of my old rack and only needed to keep an eye on the bushings. They lasted longer than they thought they were going to but with four bikes they deff take a beating. I was able to pick some bushing up at lowes and beat the old ones out with a hammer and replace them all in under 20 min to have a solid rack again.

I sold my old rack with my old car and got a new rack for my new car.

No more stuffing my bike in the car!

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

What a great rack! This is so simple to use. I cannot believe how much pain I have gone through not having this yet. It is so solid and such a great design. Now I am going to get the add on too and some locks too. I highly recommend this rack!

        only rack I will own.

I have had this rack for about 5 years and it has finally been replaced. great rack, way easier than comparable models

        Dat rack tho

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The gold standard in hitch mount bike racks. Fits just about everything you can throw at it except fat bike tires. But rest assured that your precious cargo is snug and secure at highway speeds. Load and unload your bikes in seconds with minimal contact to that tricked out paint job.

        It's a Thule

        • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I got this Thule rack as a gift for my father. He and I have sold many Thule racks over the years, and this has worked out well, even with one small issue with the initial install. It seems the inner bolt that tightens down and takes out the play in the receiver hitch had some flashing on it from the weld, causing the bolt to not easily thread. It did require some work to clean things up, but it now works well. He recently used it on a trip to Colorado from Utah and had no issues what so ever. It's nice that the rack will also pivot away from the trunk area with bikes on, so you can get things out without removing the bikes. He's been quite please with it!

        Easy Enough

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love this rack because it is super easy to pack up the bikes. I always have to shake the bikes a little to make sure they are on tight because it just seems too easy. It is also nice that you can lower the rack with the bikes off or on to access the back of the car. I had to add an extension for our jeep to the large spare tire but no matter what conditions the rack always held up.

        Easy Enough

        Great bike carrier

The perfect one carrier for your 2 wheel beauty. No need to left it on top of your car where its forgot when you enter your garage. I can look in my rear view mirror with conference my bikes are safe. It's quick and easy to use. I would recommend this to anyone that treats there bike like an extension of your family.

Good build quality, but beware bumpers

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I attached this to a 2006 Infiniti FX35, and had to perform minor surgery on the front-wheel scoop to make it not rub up against the bumper. I wish I had known ahead of time, as I might have instead gone with one of the other models/brands where the front wheel scoop is lowered compared to the back (like the Kuat NV2). Nonetheless, after using a saw on the scoop it fits perfectly and I haven't had any issue transporting bikes around securely. The Thule build quality is great and putting it together was very straightforward. Just check your car's dimensions before you commit to this one.

          Great Value

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I would give this rack 5 stars for value (much cheaper than a Kuat) but 4 stars for overall performance.

Thanks to Backcountry Gearheads for prepping me ahead of time for the takes a little while to put together. Additionally, Thule factory assembled one of the major parts backwards so I had to take it apart and fix that part way through my build of it.

The pin that holds the rack in place on your trailer hitch is a bit unusual as well. One of the sides is threaded to hold the pin (1/4" diameter) in place and this threading completely fills up the hole on one side of the trailer hitch. The other side of the rack does not have threading so the 1/4" diameter pin sits loosely in the 1/2" or larger trailer hitch hole. This causes some imbalance with the rack when you hit a bump, but isn't noticeable when traveling down the road.

The rack works great for two bikes and the feature to drop the rack down to allow your tailgate to open is a huge help. Overall I would recommend purchasing this over a more expensive rack and saving yourself some money in the process.
