Ready For Launch.
Whether it's for work or play, travel can be an arduous task, especially when it involves hauling around a variety of technology. However, with a little assistance from the Thule Subterra 30L Backpack, travel just got a whole lot easier. While the Subterra 30L has a streamlined, unassuming silhouette, this backpack is chocked-full of features that are designed to assure a comfortable haul for all of your necessities.
More specifically, the Subterra features perforated EVA shoulder straps for ample breathability, while the stabilization straps and sternum strap keep the pack secure when you discover that your connecting flight is halfway across the airport. The padded laptop sleeve allows you to access your computer through the top of the back or side, and the tablet-specific pocket offers safe refuge for smaller pieces of touchscreen technology. Additionally, the PowerPocket helps keep your cords organized and easy to access, and the myriad of other organization pockets (such as the sunglasses-specific one or side water bottle pockets) help ensure that you stay well prepared for whatever blips in your itinerary you might experience.

Great pack, but I'll be switching
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
My biggest recommendation if you are interested in this backpack is consider what exactly you need your backpack to do. This pack is probably perfect for someone out there, but not for me. First the good: if you've never owned a Thule product, rest assured that what you buy will have unbeatable quality and aesthetics. This backpack has been my daily driver every single day for the past year, and not only does it still look brand new, I've really enjoyed using a bag that looks this professional. I also use a Thule bag for my camera, and it too is on a level of its own in terms of durability and design. But as I said before, depending on what you need your backpack to do, you might want to pass on this one. As a college student (as well as someone who is constantly on the go), the backpack's internal design isn't ideal. I carry a lot of things on a daily basis, and the main compartment is oddly narrow which makes carrying lots of books quite difficult. In addition, neither compartment opens very wide which is not ideal if you need to find things in a hurry. General organizational spaces are somewhat sparse, although the dedicated pocket for storing a portable battery is something I greatly appreciate. The internal laptop sleeve is also a welcomed feature, but when the backpack is full, it takes some effort to get your laptop in and out. Lastly, this is definitely not a pack to use in the rain for extended periods of time. I would only go as far as to say it is slightly water resistant.
All this being said, if you are someone who does not have a great number of items to cart around, and you're looking for a great-looking bag, I whole-heartedly recommend this product. This is a great pack, it's just not perfect for me.
Great versatile backpack! Bought this upon the arrival of our second child because backpacks are so much easier than a traditional diaper bag - this has pockets galore and holds everything we need for a newborn and toddler. Additionally, itâs the perfect fit in the bottom of the Thule double jogging stroller. I was nervous about the structured body of the bag but that has turned out fine. Itâs generally always full and it will still smush down into a tight spot if needed. We travel a lot so the loop for the suitcase is also a huge plus.
