Snowpack Extender

The Thule Snowpack Extender lets you haul enough skis and boards for a proper party shred. The extendable function allows for easier loading and unloading of your skis and snowboards. This roof rack fits up to six pairs of skis or four snowboards, holding them securely on your car with soft rubber arms that won't scratch your sticks. The oversized buttons are easy to operate with gloves on so you don't have to expose your fingers to the brutal winter chill and the One-Key system locks the skis to the rack and the rack to the car.

Unexpected noises

Everything is fine except the noise when you drive the car without ski in the tops. It means if the thing is empty. Noise come out when you drive more than 85km/h. Noise is like whistle。

Noise!

If you use without ski or snowboard on it, it will have a very loud noise that hurt your ears. And i just found out the noise is from the slide. I recommand use the regular one without the slide.

took a while

That rack works great, love the product but customer service is poor. Also YouTube is much better than the written instructions.

Very loud!

Without any snowboards or skis in the rack, this unit is very loud when on the freeway doing 60+ mph. There is an awful whistling noise while driving that I cannot identify. Everything is installed and positioned properly as are the rubber liners provided to close all gaps.

bad instructions, good product

I was told that I could install the roof rack system and when the instructions came I could not come close to completing it. Also shipped additional parts that were not needed, adding to the confusion. Thule should make a detailed video explaining everything in a twenty minute video. Adter wasting an hour and having the first piece on loosely which I did not know how to tighten or take off I was lucky to find a shop that would help. Two hours later it was complete so we thought except later to find out that the side rails were put on backwards. The pieces could come labeled better as well with how they are marked in the instructions as well. Shocking how difficult this was to install and the instructions so bad that it takes hours for a professional to do it.

Great Product, Dismal Instructions. Almost Return

Product works as advertised. Once installed, easy to load and remove skis, especially with the extender. Would give a 5 star rating but initially putting the rack together should have taken 30 minutes max but instead took 3 hours due to almost useless instructions. Instructions have no words-just pictures. This would be fine but the pictures are for 3 different models of Thule Ski rack with no clarification which pictured instructions are for your model ( and the models all look the same) and the picture directions are very confusing .Through trial and error and with a You tube video which kind of showed me how to install this rack, I finally figured it out. Looking on-line reviews on various websites, the lack of useable instructions is a common complaint. I have also read Thule's reply to these complaints ( "need to ensure consistent directions, avoid errors, save text not having to write in different languages"). But how hard can it be to write directions in different languages that you can download and modify those directions if you find you can later improve on those directions? I wanted to give the product 5 stars but I can't. Other companies make products with written downloadable (potentially modifiable) directions, why can't Thule? Thule, don't be stubborn at the detriment of a good product! I almost returned the Product.
