Don't fumble with inferior racks—the Parkway Hitch Bike Carrier gives you a rock-solid Thule rack without breaking the bank.

The Thule Parkway Hitch is a simple bike carrier that safely and conveniently transports up to four bikes. This bike rack hooks right into your vehicle's hitch to make getting your bicycles to the trailhead simple and worry-free. This bike rack features Thule's classic cradles, which secure and protect your bikes' frames. Thanks to the dual arm design, there is no need for top-tube adapters on certain bikes—this carrier holds 'em all. Thule included tie-down straps but encourages you to upgrade with the Zip Stick [part 950] for added bike stability and anti-sway. The four-bike Parkway Hitch Bike Carrier can transport up to 140lb (63.5kg).

    Great Carrier!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This was so simple to assemble and mount into the hitch. With the 4-bike carry and easy load, mountain biking is about the ride and any thoughts of transporting our bikes is left behind (with the hitch). Love the tilt feature. I had one without this for quite awhile and will never go back. Easy access to the rear compartment of my SUV is one pin-pull away. We often take the dog riding and this is so much nicer for him too!

Thule Vertex Bike Rack - 4 Bike

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is well made and easy to use.

It fit my 2006 Honda CRV with enough room to get past the spare tire hanging off the back. I did not need a hitch extension.

I had to replace the top 5/8 bolt with a 5/8 pin to allow the arms to fold when not loaded with bikes.

    Good basic bike rack

Good sturdy rack, a little challenging to get 4 bikes on especially kids bike with smaller frames but doable. Wish the rack came with a pin instead of bolt at top so it was possible to fold down rack part that holds bikes when not in use.

      Sturdy, gets 'er done

Very nice construction, seems sturdy enough for 4 bikes, just be careful going over rough bumps...

My main gripe is that it doesn't rotate down when you're not using it - not a huge deal I guess, but it seems like all other racks (including Thule's) rotate down and out of the way when you don't feel like driving with 5' poles behind you...

        Decent Rack, Good Price

This is the first and only hitch rack I've had on my 4Runner, and there are definitely plenty of reasons to like it. It was a cinch to setup, it's always been stable, it leans away from the vehicle with ease, and it was relatively cheap for a 4-bike rack. That said, I'm not totally happy with the carrying style. The cradles are fine, and can rotate as needed, but it can be difficult finagling certain frames, especially full suspensions, onto the rack. Also, I know the carrier arm can't extend 12 feet off the back of the vehicle, but it'd be quite the feat to get 4 bikes on this rack. I've only carried three at once on this rack, and it wasn't easy getting them on and off. Overall, not a bad buy for the price, but it works best only carrying two bikes at a time.

          Great for the Price

Despite problems, it's great for the price and free shipping!

My vehicle is a 09 Jeep Wrangler JK Unlimited X with the Rubicon Wheel and Tire package and hard top. This rack did not have a long enough receiver tube to clear my 32'' BFG MT spare tire. I will need an extender tube but then my departure angle will suffer and I worry that my rack may hit the ground on uneven terrain.

Other issues include not being able to open my gate or glass even when you pull the pin to lower the rack. It's still not enough to let the glass flip up past my tail gate. When the hardtop is off this may not be an issue.

Also, the rack does not secure to your hitch with a pin. The hole is small and threaded. Very poor design, you will need to get a longer bolt. Also, the "arms" of the rack do not fold down. This is another modification you will have to do. Additionally, the rubber straps to hold the bike seem to fall off often.

            Thule 956 bike rack

It is a good rack, easy to install. But it's not designed for some odd shape bikes, you gonna need a adapter for them which is another $20 or $30. Though the rack could swing down to load bikes, the top part could not be fold as some advanced model. If you happen to have a small garage, it will block the door. I bought a 3/8" ($5) pin from LOWES, replace one bolt to make the topper part able to fold.

              Another great Thule product

Purchased Thule Parkway 2" for a 14-hour (mostly interstate) family vacation road trip. Wanted a quality entry-level rack. Loaded it up with two adult mountain bikes and two kids bikes (oddly shaped) -- all of varying weights, sizes, tube dimensions. All fit just fine and remained remarkably stable even at interstate speeds -- no swaying. Easy to assemble. Solid construction. Very pleased.

I need a rack for my 2008 F350, I'm tired of throwing the bikes in the bed and watching them get beat up. Will this rack fold down out of the way for the tailgate?

I have a jeep JK Wrangler with the Rubicon BFG/MT 32'' spare tire. WIll this rack clear my spare tire?

The rack 'should' work just fine. This rack will give you 9.5" of clearance from the pin on the receiver to the rack. Follow this link for more details:

or if you can't find on that will fit, the Thule Spare Me would be another option:

Do the racks arms fold down when bikes are not being carried?

doesn't look like it. It looks like it folds down out of the way so you can get in to the back of your vehicle, but does not fold up. Check this link out, it has a whole video on this rack that may give you some answers.
