    Winter performance meets après style.

From snowy hikes to après bars, The North Face Women's Chilkat 400 Boot is all your foot needs this winter. Waterproof nubuck leather shields your skin from the snow's wet chill, while PrimaLoft Silver's partially recycled Eco insulation offers heavyweight warmth for incredibly frigid temperatures. The faux fur collar gives the Chilkat an après look, and the D-ring lets you cover the collar with a gaiter when you hike. Underfoot, the Chilkat features an EVA midsole for cushy comfort and stability, and TNF's Winter Grip includes temperature-sensitive IcePick lugs that stay grippy on icy terrain.

    I Wanted to Love Them!

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I ordered these boots as a replacement for my forever-old, tried-and-true North Face boots. I’m finding that after so long, the product fit, flatter and design were just not in line with my “tried and true” pair. The boot came up far too high on my leg causing discomfort, and the style was far too wide/bulky compared to the older style. The fit was perfect in terms of foot comfort, as I know this brand well, and ordered a whole size up from my regular size 10 shoe size. The quality of construction was also significantly lower than the pair purchased approximately 5 years ago.

Great boot - true to size

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is a great winter boot! They fit perfectly on my snowshoes - love the "shelf" on the back for my snowshoe strap.

I'm not sure why people are having sizing issues with these boots. I normally wear a size 6 (some brands are different, but I have measured my feet and always use the chart to determine size). So I nervously bought a size 6.5 due to reviews. The boots are slightly too big. I should have ordered my normal size.

    Fantastic winter boot

I’m from Chicago where we just survived the polar vortex. As a daily commuter these boots are a dream! I did order a full size up and the are so warm and comfortable! They will definitely last a few seasons worth every penny!

      Pay attention to size reviews.

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I bought these for my sister she is usually an 8, after seeing all the reviews about how small they run I took the advice and sized up a whole size. My sister has chronic cold feet/hands, the size up worked out perfect. I had know about Sorel's famous sizing situations so thank you all for a great reviews. The liner is very thick and I am not sure how much of this will fill out after breaking the boot in. She has been impressed with how warm they have been already and my first impression was a solid boot...

      Runs large

These boots seem like they would be really warm and durable. I bought them for winter hiking and snowshoeing, but decided to return them because they ta about a half size too large. The insulation was thick, and the soles were durable... maybe a little too thick for hiking, but definitely a good option for snow.

        Winter-perfect boots!

I purchased this pair of boots to replace a similar pair I bought 14 years ago! I feel confident that this pair will hold up as well as the last. They are warm, heavy duty boots. As the other reviews indicate, they do run small. I'm usually a 7.5 and I ordered a size 8 and they fit well. My feet are somewhat narrow, so larger/wider feet may want to consider a whole size up rather than a 1/2. Enjoy!

          LOVE these boots!

          • Familiarity: I've used it several times
          • Fit: Runs small
          • Size Bought: 8 (usually wear 7)

I purchased these boots for a trip to Iceland and absolutely love them! They do run small, but that is because they are very insulated. I usually wear a size 7, but read the reviews and decided to purchase a size 8. They fit perfectly and I still have some room for some thick wool socks.

Way too short in length for this size

          • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
          • Fit: Runs small
          • Size Bought: 8 (where a 7.5)
          • Height: 5'2"

I love everything about them, except that they are seriously sized wrong. I own a pair of 7s from a few years ago, they are literally the same length from toe to heel as the 8s I ordered. Which means I would likely have to go for a 9 as my toes hit the end of the shoe inside. Feet widen as we get older, they do not lengthen. If you can find a size that fits, do it. They are supposed to be well insulated, and they are. I got used to my previous pair being tight for a couple of weeks until the insides molded to my foot. They remained tight, so if you have wide feet these are not for you. I may try again next year. Cute and stylish don't really go with really good cold weather boots. It is really frustrating that you cannot get a real length and width on the NF website either. There is no way to save all that diesal fuel of truckers shipping boots back and forth because the manufacturer cannot get the boots sized correctly or put more information on a website. North Face may not believe in climate change for that reason. Not re-ordering this year. Not going through the hassle.

          • Fit: Runs small

Wish I'd read other reviews. At least a size off due to the insulation. Yes, maybe it would compress with wear, not an option since can barely get on my foot despite same size in earlier version of same NorthFace boot. Beyond irritated that they can't remedy and I have to pay return shipping!!!!

          Ridiculous SIZING!

          • Fit: Runs small

How can you legally sell a product that doesn't even come close to actual sizing? How inconvenient for me to have to ship 3 pairs back because the sizing is beyond a half size and full size too small.

          Way small sizing.

          • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
          • Fit: Runs small
          • Size Bought: 8.5

If you are planning on these boots, you should go at least a half perhaps even a full size up.

          Great Winter Hiker

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
          • Fit: True to size

These boots are great for tromping through the snow. I wouldn't personally recommend them as a casual boot as they are a bit heavier but they kept my wimpy feet toasty all last winter.

          Big, bulky, & heavy

I ordered these boots formy wife as a surprise. She loved the look from online photos and reviews; however, they did not work for her. They are big, bulky, and too heavy for my wife's needs. Additionally, she felt they were not comfortable either. Next time, she will have to choose boots in person for feel & fit.

            Tight but warm

            • Familiarity: I've used it several times
            • Fit: Runs small

I bought these boots to wear on a winter trip to Iceland. They were ideal for the occasion (warm and sturdy) but I can't deny that there were times that my feet felt suffocated. Best to buy a size or two up.

            Great warm boot

            • Familiarity: I've used it several times
            • Fit: Runs small

I was looking for a comfortable and very warm boot and this delivered! Per other reviews it runs VERY small. I am usually a size 5.5 or 6 but I purchased a size 7. They fit bUT I was somewhat tempted to try a 7.5...order accordingly. I highly recommend this boot.

            Bulky and awkward height.

            • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
            • Fit: Runs small

This boot is actually very bulky-looking. Once laced up it cuts into my calf in a way that makes it very awkward to walk. They are very warm and DO run a whole size smaller.

            I don't doubt they would've been warm...

            • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
            • Fit: Runs small

I do not doubt that these boots would've been warm and done a good job in the waterproof department; however, they completely lack in the mobility and fit department. I normally wear an 8 1/2 on average. I had to go up to a 10 in these, just to have enough space for my toes in thin socks. My circulation was getting cut off otherwise. The box is incredibly tight, given the intense insulation. As a result of having to order so big, I felt like I was walking around in extremely stiff clown shoes. Needing to walk to and from the subway, these simply did not work out. I went for a less insulated, but far more mobile option in another brand.
