    Have questions about this product?

    Just No!!!

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'7"
    • Weight: 125lbs

I’m 5’ 7” the regular length would have fit my 6’ 4” tall husband and still have extra fabric. The pants waist was huge and came up to my brassiere. The ankle area had abundant fabric. The pull on waist was ridiculous. And, size medium was HUGE! Absolutely a waste of time ordering these pants. I’m accustomed to the Velcro and Zip hip fasteners, these pants had none. The size medium was large, the flimsy tie inside the waistband was thinner than a lace on my sneakers, and the overall fit was definitely not designed for a woman. I can’t wait to return these useless pants! I just want to scream. Ahhh!!!! Also, let me add for size reference I’m 5’ 7” 125-130lbs and a size 4-6 in women’s clothing.

    Really Like These!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size

I needed rain pants to bring to Scotland that I could throw on over shorts or jeans when nec.. Obviously they couldn't be too fitted, but these work & are still reasonably flattering. I'm 5'5" & 120 lbs; it was a bit of a Goldilocks moment trying to nail down the size: the smalls fit nicely, but not over anything else; the mediums worked but were too long; but the medium/short length was perfect!

    Good product

These are nice pants that are definitely wind and rain proof. They're just not what I was looking for. They are big and baggy, not at all flattering. I don't care so much about that, but I felt like I was a balloon in them and was uncomfortable. I tried a medium first, sent back and tried the small. The small was snug around my waist, but pants were still very baggy. I was very disappointed as they look perfect online! FYI...I am 5'9" and the regular length is perfect.

Can take a lot of hits (from water)

I wore this pants while kayaking. My leg started to feel kinda wet after 1 hour of kayaking (kayaked total 3 hours). Even after the 3 hours, my legs weren't too wet. The thing that impressed me the most was how fast it dried.

    Gets the job done

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Used these in varying conditions while traveling around Iceland for a little over a month. They worked great in the rainy conditions and made life sooo much easier! I loved having these on--they almost made me feel invincible. Accidentally sat in sheep poop? No problem! Just dump some water on and all clean. They don't breath terribly well, but they are rain pants after all... I never found myself too uncomfortable in them in terms of breathability, though. I didn't listen to North Face's size chart and ordered a small (5'4" with athletic thighs, I usually wear a size S, 4, or 6 depending on the brand) instead of the suggested medium. Though they were a bit snug in the butt, I found they moved really well and ended up being the perfect fit. As for quality, I found they were great; I slid down a snow-covered mountain without any issues. I did run into an issue, however, when I sat on a glacier and the sharp ice punched a hole in the butt. Bummed about that, but a bit of duct tape could solve the problem if needed.

    Odd sizing

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'7"
    • Weight: 160lbs

Tried both the Medium and the Large in this pant, hoping for a fit! However, without any sort of fastener on the waist I found the Medium very difficult to get over my hips, even without hiking pants underneath. Returned the Medium and tried the Large - it was waaaaaaay too baggy, though it was easier to get on. All these pants needed was a button or zipper to make the on/off process less of a skinny-pants-dance!

    Quality Pants

Great fitting. With a 34" inseam it is nearly impossible to find pants, let alone rain pants that fit correctly. these pants knock it out of the park. Durable construction, moisture wicking, and comfortable. If you've got long legs don't think twice about getting any other rain pants.

      Small Waist

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: Small
      • Height: 5'3"
      • Weight: 135lbs

I bought these to wear while coaching at track meets. Their thickness is very similar to the Venture rain shell. They're not super thick at all and definitely not insulated. I also noticed that the waist on them is pretty small. I purchased skze small and while I'm regularly am a 27 waist/size 4 and these are small. They fit over leggings but not jeans at the waist. The legs are also bigger than I'd expect.
They get the job done, but they're an interesting shape and aren't going to keep you warm, just dry.

      Great rain pants

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

      • Size Bought: small

fits true to size, look good and the zipper helps a lot you don't have to take your shoes off!

      Awesome Pants!!!

      • Fit: Runs large
      • Size Bought: Medium
      • Height: 5'6"
      • Weight: 140lbs

These pants do run large. I wanted to make sure they were long enough in length because I am 5'6 in height so I ordered a large. The large were really big in length and waist. I returned them and ordered the pants in a medium and they are still a little big around the waist but fit great in length. Really love the pants and I can't wait to wear them on a rainy day!!!

      Sizing way off

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: Small
      • Height: 5'7"

I followed the size chart and reviews of others that said these run large, however being a size 6/28 in jeans I can't even get these pants over my legs.Disappointed I will have to pay to return.

      Love these pants so far

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

      • Size Bought: M
      • Height: 5'6"

Only had them a few days, but put them to the test in a downpour this morning and they are comfortable and kept me dry. I am usually a size 8 or 29 and the mediums fit great.

      Look great

Love the look of these pants however they are much too big even though I used size chart. I am exchanging for a smaller size.

      Venture vs PreCip pants

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: S
      • Height: 5'3"
      • Weight: 118lbs

I bought these and the Marmot PreCip half-zips to compare. I ended up keeping the Marmots. Sorry I can't compare their field performance, but here is what I noticed about them in try ons:

These NF pants are more flattering (well, flattering for rain pants, it's all relative) than the Marmots with their flat front waist. I am slender and short-waisted, so the lack of all around elastic might be less comfortable for others. The NF fabric is also slightly thicker than Marmot's, which might mean better longevity. These NF pants DO pack into a pocket (contrary to another review). The zips on these are slightly longer, however neither pair actually allows me to put them on over boots.

All that said, I returned these and kept the PreCips because the seams around the NF leg zips are not taped (seams on the sides and crotch area are taped). Additionally, the PreCips have an elastic pull-cord with toggle around the ankles to cinch the pants in. Finally, I got the PreCips at a slightly lower price.

      Lightweight and all right

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Small petite
      • Height: 5'3"
      • Weight: 120lbs

Have not had the chance to really see these in the rain. they are lightweight easy to wear and seems to be very versatile. could probably use in rain and snow / warm pants.

      Keeps Me Dry

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: XS
      • Height: 5'5"
      • Weight: 105lbs

Yes, these pants do what they were hired for, but have some drawbacks. I got an XS, and I can unzip the bottom zippers and manage to get these pants off and over my hiking boots, but the zippers don't go up high enough, so it's a struggle. Also though the front pockets are a good thing, there's no self-packing pocket, if you get my drift. The fit is excellent for my puny frame.
