    Good light jacket

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XXL

I was looking for a replacement jacket that would work as a shell, have a hood, repel rain, and have pit vents for added ventilation. This jacket does all those things and for less than $60. I've worn it in all conditions: showers to heavy rains and remained dry. The hood is well designed and I have not had any rain drip on my glasses. The XXL size is large enough for a fat, round guy like me to wear a T-shirt and hoodie underneath and still be able to zip it up. The zipper is excellent. This jacket is so light. I was worried the jacket would not feel good against my skin since it does not have a mesh liner, but I didn't notice any discomfort against my arms. It blocks wind as well as rain. It does not offer any warmth on a cold day though so wear that extra layer. Thanks, Backcountry, for carrying larger sizes so a guy like me can still wear performance garments.

    Nice jacket, Great price

Got this thing on sale to replace a similar jacket I had stolen. Fits nice, standard NF quality...Got here in less then a day. There is nothing better than a good quality rain jacket that will stand up to the elements.

    Very Good Rain Jacket

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

This is a great rain jacket for the value. This jacket can handle anything thrown at it and still outperforms the more expensive ones. I have use it together with my Thermoball jacket for those colder days and also have used it by itself in pouring rain. I would highly recommend this jacket to everyone who is looking for a high quality rain jacket or outer shell. It will never disappoint even in the harshest of weather.

So the jacket I got was the black with grey top section, only complaint is that the grey is not actually as light as it appears in the picture, in person the difference between the black and grey is hardly noticeable. (Kinda bummed) but otherwise it's a great jacket, keeps me dry, but isn't mwant for keeping you super warm. Toss a hoodie underneath if you need to be warm AND dry.

    Super Roomy Jacket

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size

Bought this for my dad and he plays in the rain everyday now. He's a big guy, and the XXL fit him with room to spare, which is great for putting on some layers underneath.

    Great Lightweight Raincoat

Got this jacket for my son for Christmas to bring away to school next fall - very well made, lightweight raincoat. Love the style and fabric. He hasn't worn it out in the rain as of yet but looks like it will do the trick on those rainy days.

    Nothing Beats The Value

For the price, this shell is king. Waterproof, breathable, with a covered zipper, great storage space, armpit vents and an internal pocket; what else could you need? Just an awesome value, and the shell I use alone in rain, or as my outer coating in the winter.

      It was perfect!

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
      • Fit: True to size

I purchased this as a birthday present for my boyfriend. He was quite pleased with it. It was the perfect weight and fit for his needs. Not too sporty. A nice classic looking windbreaker.

Great jacket at a great price

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Medium

Overall this thing is great, I won't go into all the details thereof. I'll just say that I would absolutely recommend it, and I would buy it again given the choice.

One feature that shines, for me, is the choice of colors. Clearly, color is not the most important factor in a rain shell, but frankly, this thing simply looks fantastic in the Asphalt Grey Heather I have it in!

      Highest recommendation.

      Great Jacket!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Large

This is a great jacket, I really love how small it gets when you stow it. I take it whenever I go hiking, backpacking, etc. Really anytime I go outside and thankfully I've only had to use it a few times, but I've always been impressed by how well it repels rain and wind. The only complaint I have about it is how large it is on me. The length of sleeves and everything is great, it is just a little baggy on me, since I'm a skinny guy.

      Great Jacket!

      Perfect

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Large

Kept me dry inside and out. It fits to size and snug. It moves and conforms perfectly. Extremely light and never in the way.
This is a great investment. No need to spend more.

My venture jacket two tone blue

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Small

This jacket is awesome! My only cons are, the sleeves are about three inches too long for me and the hook and loop on the front zipper could stand to be a bit wider. I try to wear this anytime it rains! I bought this jacket because of the features it has and I don't have a rain/wind jacket I wanted to "buy one and done" and this fit the bill. Zippered armpits for breath ability, cinched hood (a huge plus) hook and loop cuffs, and it compresses into its own pocket ( a very huge plus!!) very lightweight , and the two toned bomber blue/ navy blue sealed the deal. Obviously this jacket does not breathe which is fine and the water beads up on the shell rather than drip off. I've used it in snow and all types of rain.i do use this jacket as part of my daily kit that I keep in the car at all times. I would recommend this piece of gear as your next new piece!

      Simply the best

This is the second time I have bought this jacket the first one was "borrowed" by my daughter and she loved it so much it never came back. It fits great and works perfectly.

I'm 6'0'' and 157 lbs. Which size would fit me more better, small or medium?

I'm 5'7" and 215. Size for me? Also, does this have any warming properties or is it just a shell?

Hi. I'm 5'8 and about 160lbs. What size do you reccomend I get? I will be teekking the hemis and will need the jacket to fit over my layers (baselayer, hooded fleece, ultralight down jacket). Thank you.

Hi. I'm 5'7 and 170lbs and this jacket in a medium regular fits awesome. North Face has manufactured this item to a lose fit so it will accommodate the addition of extra layers while still maintaining a comfortable fit even without the layers. I hope this helps

I'm 5 8 and 185 lbs, I got myself the large one which seems to be a good fit for the chest and shoulders, however the sleeves are too long, why is that?

Akram, comes down to the way the jacket fits. This particular piece caters to a boxier fit with average arm length. There are some other options that cater to shorter arms, Ill see if I can find a few and email them over.

I am 146 lbs and about 5 foot 8 inches. What size should i go with since when I measured my chest I was 31 inches?

Their size chart recommends the XS for you. However, my measurements are barely smaller than yours, and I wear a men's small, in North Face. So, would suggest going with the small size.

I want to send this jacket back to get a bigger size. How do i do that?

I purchased this jacket in December 2012 and it has kept me dry for most of the two years. However, I wore it for hours in a heavy rain and my clothing underneath was very wet. Does waterproof mean it should be waterproof even under the conditions I described?

Unless you were totally soaked, it may have been condensation from your body heat and if it was humid. This happened to me on a big hiking trip and i freaked out because it was supposed to rain a lot. Wearing a long sleeve shirt or a light soft shell will normally produce less condensation.. Hope this helps!!!( I am a Boy Scout who has a lot of experience with this stuff :) )
