    Everyone wants one

I love this jacket. It’s my go to jacket during cold winter days when I’m going to be outside working or for activities. It keeps me warm but is very breathable. I even lent it to my buddy at work and at the end of they day he wanted to buy his own.

The jacket needed to a Colorado trip

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Medium
      • Height: 6'
      • Weight: 176lbs

I traveled to Colorado from Costa Rica on january. I was a little skeptic that it would be enough. I have to say that most of the time I only needed a sport base layer shirt and this jacket. It worked perfect. I only had to use fleece underneath this jacket once in Breckenridge. Perfect to keep me warm and very very comfortable.

      Go-To Jacket

I really enjoy this jacket. It is well insulated and keeps me warm on chilly days. I like to use it for hiking and going around town. It fits well (though I wish the torso was just a tad longer). It moves well if you start jogging, and it breathes very well when your core heats up. If the temperature drops the hood really seals in your heat and keeps you warm. The zippers on the pockets are a little tight and require two hands to open and close, but they are quality, durable zippers.
If you want a quality jacket that can go up mountains and downtown, this is for you!

      Great Jacket

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: XX:
      • Height: 5'10"
      • Weight: 210lbs

This jacket is a great base layer jacket that is comfortable and functional . I had the jacket in an XXL in Red which was attractive and stylish. Had to go XXL when normal sizing in other jackets are XL. So it does run small but that wasn't too much of an issue when I got the size up. Comfortable fabric on the inside and the outer fabric kept the wind out and held up to some light snow. Worn in outside temperatures around 20 degrees and stayed fairly warm when doing physical activity (shoveling and sledding.) Highly recommend for anyone looking for a quality jacket.

      Great Midweight Jacket Option!

I tried out this jacket because I am a huge fan of my Arcteryx Atom LT, as most people are, and I wanted to see how this compared. This is really more comparable to the Atom AR but I don't own that. The Ventrix is warmer and not as breathable than the Atom LT which is to be expected but for the price it is a really solid option if you are looking to save a few bucks compared to the Arcteryx options. Also wanted to note that the fit is surprisingly slimmer than the Arcteryx Atom which I was not expecting. Still went with the same size but it is just a little slimmer. I wore this out to a soccer game for the main test in light rain and wind and it held up like a champ! The DWR was nice and not a drop seeped through and felt no draft from the wind! If you are looking for a layering piece I say go with the Atom LT but if you want just want to switch it up from everyone else its a great option!

      TNF Ventrix Hood Insulated Jacket

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Jacket provides a tapered athletic fit that is true to size. Great for temps 20-40 degrees. Lightweight layer that I used as an everyday coat for going to work, walking the dog, and the occasional hike. Ventrix shell has a unique matte color with small 2-tone breathable holes under the arm side panels. Only wish that this jacket had extra pockets on the inside. The Ventrix has an outside chest pocket and 2 lower hand pockets.

      Love it so far

Just made this purchase, but so far so good. I could immediately feel the warmth when I first put it on, and it's not like other jackets that seem to get too warm even without activity. The jacket is light and comfortable, and good looking. Seems to be my new go to jacket.

      Great layer

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: Runs large
      • Size Bought: small
      • Height: 6'0"
      • Weight: 140lbs

This jacket is a sharp looking piece. Its got more durable fabric on areas prone to wear and it's just a great warm piece.

      Not Just For The Guys

I choose the men's because I love this color of red! Also something I liked about the men's style is that it is all around a bit longer and doesn't singe at the waist. I have a very long torso and like to cover my bum. I often buy men's jackets, long sleeves, and t shirts due to the length and the boxy fit.

This jacket fit me really well in a Small. I am a women's Small or XS. I was pleasantly supersized how warm and yet lightweight this jacket is! 10/10

      Shed the Heat

      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Medium
      • Height: 5'11"
      • Weight: 180lbs

The perforations in the insulation really help keep you from over heating when you're out getting after it. I like trail running in it because I don't have to take it on and off all the time, as I do with other jackets. I also am not worried about it snagging or ripping when I get down in the dirt or brush up against trees.

      Light and comfy

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Large
      • Height: 5'8"
      • Weight: 192lbs

Very nice jacket with a soft face fabric but yet warm. Going with other reviews I did go with a large when I normally use a medium in North Face coats. Hood is sized perfectly to wear with a hat- not too sloppy. Have only used it for walking around town with the dog. Love it so far!

      Cool Insulated

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: Runs large
      • Height: 5'9"
      • Weight: 190lbs

A solid new option for a mid-weight insulation piece, and a great price point. The jacket breathes well, is soft and comfortable and very lightweight. I typically bounce between a medium and large, and went with a large in this. It feels a little bit oversized for me in the arm length, but is comfortable and I plan to keep it. I'm 5'9" and 190bls.

Thanks for the review, Chris! I have been eyeing this jacket and think it would be ideal for some early morning spring trail running. I am also running Leadville this year and may come in handy. I have been looking at the medium so we will see!

      Great jacket

      • Size Bought: Medium
      • Height: 5'8"
      • Weight: 165lbs

TNF got it right with this one. I typically have not been a fan of TNF performance jackets, but I love this one. I purchased this jacket for early morning runs, but it is so comfortable that it has become my go to jacket for everything. The athletic fit is true to size and eliminates any bulk one would expect from a jacket this warm. The venting works well when worn with a thin base layer and the oversized front zip pocket allows space for your phone. The stretch hoody Is designed well and is easily pulled on/off without unzipping. Highly recommended

      Everyday.

I have had this jacket for a couple of weeks and never want to take it off. It is a trim cut by North Face standards which means it fits just right! I am 6 foot 170 lbs with long arms and wear a medium. The neck and hood are very comfortable. I have not used this as a layering piece yet as we have had a very mild winter in Utah but due to its breathability/vents it would perform the job well. I have too many jackets, and this is my daily go to. Warm when I’m outside and not overly warm when I’m inside. Great job TNF!

Gifted, boyf said: "Great jacket for the brisk cold here in Utah. Keeps the warmth in great. Jacket comes right above the butt so it's not a long jacket. Fit is nice. Comfy and very compressible. I got black and it goes with everything."

        Performs Really Well

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

So at first I was a bit skeptical of how well this jacket could perform since it was so new to the market and other synthetic jackets like the Arc'teryx Atom LT or the Patagonia Nano-Air have long been two of the jackets setting the standard.

This jacket has earned a spot as my go-to and bumped my other jackets out of the gear closet. I think The North Face hit a home run with this one. And I'd highly recommend taking a look at this over the other options out there. Plus you can get a really great jacket and still save some money.

I'm super happy with this piece. And I'll probably get the hoodless version to go with it.

        Breathability:

This was the part of the jacket that made me the most curious since I haven't found too many synthetic jackets that perform too different from one jacket to the next. But I decided that the best option for the jacket would be to head out with the dog and go for a run on some local snow covered trails. This way I could build up a sweat and see how well the jacket performed. I was definitely pretty soaked and it wasn't like the jacket was wicking moisture away mega fast but it was pretty impressive to see moisture on the outside of the jacket while I was running and even though I was sweating, I never felt like I was over heating or melting. That was the big part I liked. When it gets warm, it felt like the jacket dumped heat real well.

        Wind:

It's not windproof. But for a layering piece, I don't need it to be and I don't expect it be. If I had to list a "con" about the jacket, it might be that. But being upset about that would be like being mad that your Ford F-150 doesn't get the fuel mileage of your Toyota Prius.

        Sizing:

I'm wearing a Large in this jacket. Normally I go between a Medium and a Large for jackets/shirts. The Medium does fit me but is real snug throughout. Larges are normally big on me but this Large fits perfectly (see photos). I'd say the description of this being a "slim" fit is pretty accurate. I might modify it and call it a "slim/athletic" cut. The issue I have with most other brands "Larges" are that they feel like they're cut for someone with a much bigger waist. So the shoulders/sleeves normally fit really well for me. But the waist feels like I have a ton of room. I've got a Patagonia Nano-Air in a size Large and seldom wear it because it's so much bigger in the waist/mid section area and I had the excess material.

        Jacket Comparison:

        Arc'teryx Atom LT - 60grams of insulation for $259

        Patagonia Nano-Air - 60grams of insulation for $299

North Face Ventrix - 80grams of insulation for $219.95

It may look apples to oranges for the 60 vs 80 grams of insulation but I'm not sure why someone would want to pay more for less?

        My Measurements:

        Height - 6'

        Weight - 180lbs

        Chest - 42.5"

        Waist - 32/33"

Jackets - sometimes Medium, sometimes Large

        Bottoms - always Mediums

        Performs Really Well

        Awesome everyday jacket

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
        • Fit: Runs large
        • Size Bought: Medium
        • Height: 5'9"
        • Weight: 150lbs

        Pros:
-Super soft and flexible fabric which makes it comfortable enough to wear all the time.
-Zips high enough to cover your neck and chin against cold and soft against your neck and chin.
-Flexible - the fabric stretches and makes it super comfortable.
-Not too bulky and thin enough to wear indoors and not bake.
-Sleeves are slightly tapered to the wrist which makes it feel not bulky
        -Looks super cool
-It breaths to keep you from overheating and fits well under a shell for skiing
        Cons:
None really other than runs a little large. I'm 5-9, 150# and the medium was a little big but the small might be a little too small.

        Overall a super cool jacket.

        Jacket or Hoody? You decide

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
        • Fit: Runs small
        • Size Bought: Large
        • Height: 6'0"
        • Weight: 170lbs

This is a fantastically lightweight jacket that is soft, breathable, and still warm. It's been my go to hoody when the temps drop but isn't really cold yet. The fit is much slimmer than I was expecting from The North Face, and I would say this is the best fitting piece of north face gear I own. Overall, just a great versatile piece that won't disappoint.

        Excellent Insulated Jacket that breathes

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times
        • Fit: Runs small
        • Size Bought: Large
        • Height: 6'2"
        • Weight: 185lbs

I've had my Ventrix Hooded Jacket for a couple weeks now and it's been great; in fact, it's exceeded my expectations so far. Here are my initial impressions:

        1) Versatile - I've worn this jacket for everything from hiking to grocery shopping

        2) Breathable - For high-aerobic activities like hiking, the Ventrix is fantastic because it keeps you warm without overheating. Because it is so breathable, it is susceptible to wind, but that is a fair and understandable trade-off. Layer a shell over the top to block the wind, and you're all set.

        3) Comfortable - I really appreciate how soft and stretchy the fabric is - it's quite similar to the Nano-Air. The Slim fit is noticeable, and suits me well. I am typically right between a medium and large from TNF and the Ventrix fits perfectly in size Large.

        So far, so good!
