The Men's Ultra GTX Mid Surround Hiking Boot represents The North Face's best footwear for backpacking over long miles in any condition. Gore-Tex's Surround technology includes reliable waterproofing and enhanced breathability that feels right whether you're trekking through dry lands or marshy grounds. Underfoot, the Ultra's Cradle Guide midsole offers plush responsiveness to keep you going when the campsite is miles away.
The North Face built the Ultra's upper out of well-ventilated mesh and PU-coated leather straps to ensure long-lasting durability. Inside, this boot features moisture-wicking FlashDry fibers at the collar and a cushy, odor-resistant Ortholite footbed for comfort. Vibram's Megagrip sole lives up to its mega-grippy name whether you're walking through streams or smearing slippery sandstone.

Bought these for 8-10 mile hikes around Las Vegas in the Mt Charleston area. Felt a slight pressure point at first on my ankle, but due to my blind devotion to TNF stuff and not wanting to wait for another pair, I simply hoped I'd be fine. The pressure point went away and they were OK for the next 60 miles or so. However, halfway on a 20 mile backpacking trip the right one developed some weird crease or something that kept poking at my achilles. Nothing I could do but suck it up for 10 miserable miles (I got home and found my achilles had turned purple from the constant irritation). Thought it was a fluke, so I healed up, waited a week and tried them again... same result. Extremely painful to walk in. Complete waste of money and extra disappointing as, like I said, I'm a total devotee of North Face stuff.

I love these boots, I have already hiked a few fjords and mountains in Norway with them, they keep my feet dry, and warm.
Bonus, they look great as well!
