    Ditch the down.

It’s a crisp bluebird morning, and you’re ready to spend your weekend carving turns with your friends. A slim fit makes the Thermoball Vest a smart choice to keep your torso warm while having another best day ever at the resort or in the backcountry. The North Face’s Primaloft Thermoball insulation material is packable and retains heat similar to down feather insulation but without the occasional feather shedding. A DWR coating also sheds light rain and snow, and if temps rise during that bluebird day, you can shed your outer layer and still be dry and warm while skiing in this vest and a baselayer. When you’re done riding for the day, the vest carries style at your favorite après-ski establishment or anywhere else on the mountain or around town.

    • Keep your core warm on the lift with this vest
    • DWR finish repels light rain or snow on a skintrack
    • ThermoBall insulation mimics packability and warmth of down
    • Slim fit to layer under a shell jacket
    • Item #TNF04OP

    Very Comfortable and Warm

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 172lbs

Very happy with the way the Medium fits on me. I like that they now have an inside pocket in these.
I bought both Medium and Large. I ended up returning the Large as it was too baggy.

    Weird Sizing

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Medium and Large
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 200lbs

This vest does not match the sizing of the Thermoball jacket. The Medium jacket fits me perfectly but a Medium in the vest is way too tight at my waist (33 inch). I even tried the Large vest which was of course roomier at the waist but was too roomy elsewhere. In the end, I returned them both. Too bad.

    Extremely comfy... NOT slim fit

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 175lbs

Lost my Patagonia Nano Puff vest which I am 100% satisfied and bought this ThermoBall vest. Both are extremely comfy, warm, and light. Really like ThermoBall's huge hand pockets. The only complain I had is ThermoBall's fit. It was said to be Slim Fit. But it is way more relaxed than my Nano Puff vest. This relaxed fit makes ThermoBall potentially more comfy, but more difficult to be layered.
    Overall great product.

    2018 model great vest.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 165lbs

Use it about everyday around town in the fall and spring. Has held up great, a tear here and there from a couple spills I took on a rocky trail , but to be expected. Used as a mid layer with a hard shell over one base layer and my Patagonia R1 under good to 0 degrees snowboarding. Packs small. Took one star because without a chest pocket it's not perfect functionality stowing small things under outer layer.

    NorthFace vest-medium,black

    • Height: 5'8"
    • Weight: 140lbs

Very light but warm.Made well. I really like it. Has logo on back also.
Inside was white with news writing, kinda cool I guess. Got it on sale
and at the price it's very worth it. It's a pretty big medium size but
I think the small might not be right for me.

    Takes chill off, activewear/casua

Came back for a second color. I'm using the thermoball vest for winter snowbiking for some warmth and wind protection on my core (its the outer layer), under ski shell for resort skiing and even as a 'sweater' with a collared shirt for the office. Does it all. Get one.

    Fantastic Vest!

First off... sizing: I am 6’2”, 195 pound male. Very broad shoulders, but slim waist with no belly. Ordered the medium because I like a more fitting feel from my vests. The Medium was too tight in the armpit area and a tad too short in the body length. Of course Backcountry is amazing and has the best customer service of all time, so exchanging for a Large was no issue whatsoever. Large fits me perfectly, just have to synch the waist cord a bit and it’s good to go. I usually wear it over a 1/4 Zip or over a thicker sweater. I can see this vest keeping me warm and cozy from 25-45*F. Weather in Michigan is extreme so I expect a lot from my outerwear and I feel that this piece will be up for the challenge.

      Best vest ever

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: medium
      • Height: 5'10"
      • Weight: 175lbs

This is the best vest I've found for layering under a ski shell. Haven't worn it for anything but skiing in cold temps, but I give it a big thumbs up. I think it will be versatile for all conditions - worn alone in spring and summer, worn as a layer for colder adventures.

      Warm and Comfy

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: large
      • Height: 5'10"
      • Weight: 195lbs

I am writing this review for my husband (Lol!), this was a Christmas gift and my husband loves the vest! He is 5' 10", 195lbs, so I bought him the the large. It fits, but it could be slightly less boxy, and that is his only complaint - that's why the 4 star rating. This is a great vest under a ski jacket or a coat on a really cold day. He wears it around the house too. Great vest!

      Very efficient

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: XL
      • Height: 5'11"
      • Weight: 225lbs

I bought this to use as a layer under my shell for colder days on the mountain, but I find myself using it for various reasons off of the mountain almost everyday in the colder weather. I put it on under or over my sweatshirts in temps between the 15-30 degrees F, and I stay warm without the bulk of a winter jacket. I expect to be able to use it over a T-shirt or a long sleeve in the early spring and late fall hikes, because it heats up significantly more when you are doing anything active in it. However, even if you get too hot in this you can pack it into its own pocket, which turns into a self storage pouch that zips and has a leash so you can pack it away or hang it off of your pack while hiking (small enough to attach to your belt loom if you don’t have a pack with you). Overall I couldn’t be happier with the product and I intend to buy the long sleeve jacket version of this next.

      Vest I didn't think I needed

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Medium
      • Height: 5'10"
      • Weight: 165lbs

Was never a big fan of vests before -- I think they look dorky -- but I finally got over that nonsense after I got tired of dealing with sweaty arms from layering long sleeves. This fleece is nice and light. Would have liked a chest zip pocket, but the two side zippered ones will do. I'm 5'10, 165lb (sometimes) and a Medium fits me great. Not baggy, but not super slim fit as I can wear a midweight fleece layer underneath with no problem.

      Outstanding!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Small
      • Height: 5'9"
      • Weight: 140lbs

This is by far the best vest that I have ever owned. It's light weight, fits great, looks great!

      Awesome Vest!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Large
      • Height: 6'1"
      • Weight: 190lbs

I bought this vest a few months ago anticipating the colder weather. It fits very well with a sweater or sweatshirt underneath. I wear a large in just about every shirt/sweatshirt I wear and the large fits perfectly. It's nice and warm as well, I wear it every day at the ice rink and it keeps me nice and toasty. On the coldest windiest days this vest has been my go to. It's super versatile and can be worn just about everywhere (which I do). I couldn't ask for a better product!

      Slim fit and comfy

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Medium
      • Height: 5'10"
      • Weight: 185lbs

The small ribs on this puffy helps it keep the slim fit, or at least keep my belly appearing slightly slimmer. I'm an all around large in anything that North Face makes with sleeves, but I fit perfectly in the medium vest. I have large shoulders, lats, and pectorals.

      Very nice, toasty

      • Size Bought: Medium
      • Height: 5'9"
      • Weight: 175lbs

Grabbed one of these to bolster my layering system and couldn't be happier. I like the fact that I can add it under my wind shell or hardshell and still have plenty of room in the arms of my jackets. Have used it down to about 18° F with a long sleeve powerwool base layer and BD coefficient fleece (very light fleece) and was plenty comfy when static (no wind). I'm impressed with the NF thermoball insulation.
Got the medium (5'"9", 175 ish) and fits well. Plenty of room for layers under and can easily get a shell over it.

      Versatile and light

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: medium
      • Height: 5'10"
      • Weight: 180lbs

Great vest. Warm, weightless, comfortable, doesn't take up much room packing. Works as a pillow when stuffed into its own pocket.

      Best in the Vest!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

Great vest, super warm and cuts the wind, excellent core layer. I got a large and it fit great considering I wear a large in about everything. Can't go wrong w/ this purchase.

      Great Vest

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: Runs large
      • Size Bought: Med
      • Height: 5'9"
      • Weight: 150lbs

The vest is extremely light, packable, and warm. I would say it has a taller narrower fit, which I find most favorable. It makes a great ski layer and does well when wet.
