Innovative insulation in a stylish package.

Stroll snowy city streets in the down-like Women's Thermoball Insulated Parka by The North Face. PrimaLoft's innovative ThermoBall insulation mimics down feathers in order to provide the warmth you'd feel in most 600-fill down jackets, and it protects you from moisture in the same way that quick-drying synthetic insulation is known for. Unlike most synthetic insulation however, ThermoBall makes this parka packable, compressible, and lightweight for traveling in cold conditions.

    Cold Rain Deterrent

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: S

I live in the PNW and never had a proper coat for cold weather plus rain. It's seriously perfect for wearing EVERYDAY this month. I love the dual zippers so you be toasty on top and breathable at the bottom for driving or sitting. I'm 5'2 and was worried about looking like a walking navy sleeping bag, but hits me mid-thigh and it's stylish.

    great piece

comfortable jacket for most temps. Sent this to my mother as a gift and she loves it. the thermoball is breathable enough to be worn on warmer days but also holds heat well enough to bear temps down to about 40 or so depending on how comfortable you are with the cold

      not my type

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
      • Fit: Runs large
      • Size Bought: large

I got a large, black Thermoball parka, and I personally did not like this jacket. It is very 'shiny', like plastic trash bag type of shiny, I personally like a duller, matte black.
Also it was really big on me, I usually wear a size medium but got a large to give it extra space for whatever I'd wear underneath; however I think that even if I'd gotten a medium It would still have plenty of space, so definitely a size to big. If I would've wanted it to be a tighter fit to show my curves and whatnot I would've gone for a size small.

      This coat can handle anything

      • Size Bought: Medium

This is by far the best coat I've ever bought. I just moved to Seattle and needed something that can handle unpredictable, constantly changing weather that will likely be cold and wet, and this does exactly that. I walk 30 min to/from work and it's so comfortable that it doesn't even feel like I'm wearing a coat. Super lightweight but I've never been cold (or hot) in it due to the warmth and breathability. It is also surprisingly wind and water resistant and can handle the light to medium rain really well. I wouldn't wear it in a downpour, though, without an umbrella. The sizing is right on. I can fit a fleece under on super cold days but haven't needed to much because the coat is warm enough on it's own. I've also worn it on several hikes and it's been awesome. The TNF Grey color is fresh and stylish - I've received lots of compliments.

      Dependable and Stylish

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Small

I am 5'2 , 115 lbs and S fits me. True to size. It's been my to go jacket for walking to work and in the streets of San Francisco. Tested it in a stormy and windy cold weather in the 40's kept me warm and dry inside.

      Wouldn't change a thing!

      • Size Bought: Large

I've worn this jacket during a full-blown Midwest winter, and it has held up and kept me totally warm. I absolutely love the slim fit of this jacket, and the adjustable waist cinching. I ordered the black color in a large because I had a lot of trouble with my previous NorthFace jacket and fitting over my large chest. The waist adjustment is perfect because it gives me a waistline, unlike my last jacket. It's warm, water-resistant, and allows room for me to wear bulky sweaters or sweatshirts underneath without trouble. Plus, I love the hood and the fact that it actually functions as a hood and fits over my entire head. The pockets zip, and there is a chest pocket on the inside of the jacket that zips - I use it to hold cards or cash if I'm traveling without my wallet.

Pros: warm, adjustable waist, functional hood, water-resistant, lightweight, feminine, deep & zip-up pockets, elastic cuffs on the arms

Cons: none - unless you prefer a matte color jacket

      Great jacket for petites

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: X-Small

This jacket is lightweight and cute without sacrificing warmth - so far, I've only had the opportunity to wear it between 15 and 45 degrees, and I've been warm with just a light shirt underneath. It's relatively wind and water-resistant (although I wouldn't wear it in a storm). The waist cinches nicely for a more form-fitting jacket and it's not too long if you're short.

      Love this parka

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: Medium

I ordered the urban navy in a size medium, I normally wear a small, but had read reviews elsewhere that said this jacket runs a tad small so I ordered the medium and am very happy with the fit. Plenty of room for a heavy sweater under it, but not too big overall. The navy in the photo here looks more matte, but in reality it is shiny. If you google and look at other images you'll see what I mean. My daughter thinks it looks better shiny, and though at first I wasn't happy about how shiny it was, I actually think I like it better than if it were matte. I wore a thin long sleeved top the other day with this parka over it, was around 35 degrees that day and I was comfortable, so I think it will be very versatile fall through spring depending on the layers worn with it. Love that it is water resistant. This parka replaced a rain coat, short thin puffer jacket and a fall wool coat. Very pleased.

      Best Jacket I Own

I purchased this jacket in a darker, slate gray for Winter 2015. I think the cut of the jacket may have changed slightly for this season? Not entirely sure, but regardless of the slight changes, this jacket is AMAZING. Even in the dead of winter, I can wear this with only a single layer underneath. If I need an extra layer, I'll wear a thick wool sweater and be extremely toasty. The fact that I only feel biting cold knee-down is an amazing testament to how warm this jacket is. It's wind-resistant, extremely packable, and light. I have a huge puffer jacket in my close that I don't even wear now thanks to this parka.

I was trying to decide between the Small and Medium for the longest time, but I do believe that the jacket has to be somewhat form-fitting to have the maximum insulation and warmth? But that's entirely anecdotal and based on my personal experience so take this with a grain of salt!
