    Talus 4 Tent

The North Face's Talus 4 Tent sleeps four campers, but that shouldn't stop you from bringing it on solo, duo, or trio camping trips. It has plenty of space for four, but the fewer the campers, the more room you have to play card games during a rain storm or stargaze through the mesh canopy during a warm, summer evening. The rain fly boasts fully taped seams for reliable waterproofing, and you can roll up the sides to let more air in during warm, light showers.

    • Lightweight four-person tent for camping and touring
    • Fully taped fly protects sleeping bags from wet weather
    • Mesh canopy assures ventilated airflow in warm temperatures
    • Roll-up fly amplifies ventilation during summer showers
    • Included footprint, gear loft, and guylines
    • Item #TNF037L

    Worst tent Ever!!!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I wish there was an option for ZERO stars.

My wife and I have been outdoors enthusiast for many many years and have owned many tents. We purchased this one because we wanted to have a tent big enough that we could have space for our two dogs. On Christmas Eve we decided to use it for the first time, after a light drizzle we noticed drops falling on us and before we could react heavy rain started. The rain fly did not perform at all water came through it as if it was a screen. At 2am on Xmas morning we had to pack up our wet gear, wet dogs and ourselves in the truck and head home. Not a happy Xmas thanks to this tent!!

We kept the tent on the same gearbox that we keep all of our other tents and none of them show the degradation this one has. Even worse, this tent was brand new!!

We do not have anything good to say about the quality of this tent. See photos

    Worst tent Ever!!!

    My new swimming pool

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Purchased new in spring 2018 and have about 8 days in the tent.
Ok in the high wind of AZ and NM, but the lash points could be better.
Endured a heavy thunderstorm in the Sierras over the weekend and it was basically raining inside the tent. All our bags were wet and luckily I had a .99 plastic sheet I threw over the top.
Absolutely garbage for the price point as a Ozark trail tent (which someone had about 50’ away from us) is way more waterproof.
From a backpacking standpoint, great lightweight tent. Unfortunately I take 2 kids and my wife with me so I expect my ‘supposedly high end’ shelter to protect us from the elements at all times. Wet kids and sleeping gear miles from civilization can be a deadly combo. Although my pissed off wife sitting on her wet sleeping bag as the water dripped on her head was the true threat to my life.
Out of the 10+ tents I have the Talus 4 has been the most disappointing POS.

    Backcountry/Tent is excellent

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Received the tent in excellent condition. Setup was very easy. Seems to be a very solid tent excellent for star-gazing since most of the tent is mesh. I looked at many tents, and for the price, it's a great tent if you're considering a purchase for star-gazing. Additionally, the rain fly adds a very nice layer of protection if you need it. I had a couple questions that I addressed with Backcountry and they were super responsive, informative, helpful and very nice. I will definitely be shopping with them again.

    Solid Simple Tent

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have used this tent many times in both the 2 and 4 person versions. Set Up is super simple because the poles are all connected with hubs so there is no guess work which pole goes where. Just put them together, place the ends in the grommets at the corners and then start clipping the tent body to them..super simple. I thought the rain fly went on easy, the red webbing at corner of the tent body and rainfly helped show which corner of the rainfly went with which corner of the tent body...again super simple. The built in gearloft and pockets made keeping things organized inside the tent easy. The included footprint is obviously a great value and should help this tent last me for years and years to come.

    Unanswered Question

Hello, I am looking for a 4 person backpacking tent for me, my wife and our two little kids.Of all the 4 person tents I have seen, this is the lightest. Would this be a good option for simple backpacking trips?
