Nice enough

Familiarity:
I've used it several times
Size Bought:
Large
Height:

Weight:

I wore this jacket yesterday for the second time. It?s fairly warm and very light, with the 22 oz total weight being a huge plus. The zippered side pockets are huge, but otherwise the jacket is pocket-sparse. The hood is fairly gigantic and a bit stupid-looking. But it does cradle your head in warmth. I?m not sold on the offset box baffle ?Cloud? construction. A more straightforward design would work just as well, imo. The jacket is ?relaxed fit? meaning baggy in the torso. The biggest con for the coat is the extremely fragile 10D outer lining, which looks like it would rip with a touch of your hand. Recommended, with reservations.

Orange you glad to have an L6?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was able to pick up this parka using some warranty credit (which was so awesome!). I got the Small in Orange. Normally I would wear medium in TNF men's wear, but this jacket is cut so roomy that a small works for me (160lbs 6'1" very slender). I have the L6 Belay Parka from 2018 (size medium) which is my go-to belay parka for cold belays, but I saw this L6 and was interested in perhaps using it as a winter/cold-weather layer for backpacking/camping since it's materials/construction are lighter and a little less feature heavy as my old L6. Sure, it doesn't have waterproof panels, or micro-fleece lined hand pockets, or a zippered chest pocket, but the interior drop pockets offer plenty of storage inside. And as far as packability, it packs down to smaller (and lighter!) than the old L6. The 2-way zipper is always a plus, and the hood cinches down well, helmet or not. The new baffle stitching pattern is along the same lines as what most companies are doing now to cut weight and reduce the drawbacks of fully sewn-through puffies. This jacket is probably my 3rd in the newer stitching pattern and I would agree with the claimed benefits of having fewer/virtually no cold spots. I knocked off a star for 2 reasons: 1. The face fabric is pretty delicate. So much so that a lateral graze of a (worn) trekking pole tip caused noticeable abrasion. I would be concerned with the durability if it caught on something a little rougher/sharper. 2. There's no inside-hang loop/tag, so if you happen to be indoors after wearing this monster of a puff outside you either have to drape it on a chair, hang the whole jacket off the hood (I don't really like the long-term effects of single point poking into the hood), or fish a coat-hook through the hood-cinch (annoying). I guess you could put it on a hanger and actually hang it up, but who has time for that?
