Finding a review on Summit AMK L2 Pullover was pretty much impossible, so I pulled the trigger on this hoping my questions and concerns would be alleviated upon its arrival. Sadly, it wasn't what I expected, but that may just be a failure of my expectations. What it is: Simply put, the Summit AMK L2 Pullover is probably one of the finest base layers I have ever tried on. Immediately, the unique knitted insulation felt soft on my skin and began working to keep me warm. If worn over a skin tight base layer and under a hard shell, I could've been comfortable skiing or going for a lengthy winter hike. Layered under an insulated outer layer, the Summit AMK L2 Pullover would thrive well below freezing. What it isn't: The Summit AMK L2 Pullover is not a jacket. This piece is slim fitting. When trying it on, it was tight in my chest and arm pits. The rest of the pullover was form fitting on my torso. I'm approximately 6' 3" tall and 175lbs (tall, slim, active). I was wearing a t-shirt when I first pulled the Summit AMK L2 Pullover over my head. That t-shirt quickly bunched as the pullover was much more form fitting that my regular t-shirt. While I imagined wearing this both as a layering piece and as a light jacket, it was immediately clear to me that the Summit AMK L2 Pullover is strictly a base layer and not really a jacket to be worn on a quick grocery run on a brisk Fall morning. It's for serious climbing in the high mountains. If that's your intended use for this piece, it's definitely worth taking a look at. In the end, paying full price for this piece was a tough ask for me. I wanted to love the Summit AMK L2 Pullover, but I have similar pieces in my collection that provide similar warmth, are more versatile, and cost less. I'm giving this item four stars. It's a fantastic piece. It has a specific role that it would do well. I'm just not completely convinced that specific role is worth the cost the Summit AMK L2 Pullover asks.
