Shellista II Mid Boot

When the morning's so cold that you can hardly bear the thought of stepping outside, the Shellista II Mid Women's Boot from The North Face will make hitting the streets a little more manageable. It's loaded up with PrimaLoft Silver Eco insulation, so your toes will stay toasty on your commute to work or class, and the upper is made of waterproof nubuck leather that's smooth, supple, and totally impervious to snow, sleet, and puddles. A waterproof TPR shell wraps around your feet to keep 'em safe and dry, and the soft knit collar, colored eyelets, and choice of laces helps the Shellista pop a little more than your average winter boot. All the style in the world won't keep you upright, though, so The North Face finished the Shellista off with a TNF Winter Grip Rubber sole, which features temperature-sensitive IcePick lugs to keep you stable as a table on ice, snow, and dry ground.

  • Fashionable and functional snow boots for braving winter weather
  • Waterproof nubuck uppers keep your feet high and dry
  • Soft knit collar adds style and comfort
  • PrimaLoft Silver Eco insulation protects from icy temperatures
  • Waterproof TPR lower for braving semi-frozen slush and puddles
  • Rubber soles designed for maximum grip in treacherous conditions
  • Temperature-sensitive lugs adapt to conditions as needed

Love these boots, perfect

I forgot to review these boots that I bought three years ago. They are perfect. My main issue is slipping on snow/ice and comfortable fit and the boots work on both levels. I love that they lace up so you can titrate the snugness to your needs and I have yet to fall on my ass, so that is a good thing. Wish it would snow more often in NYC so I could put them to more use.

Too small

Runs small

These are very true to size, but I won’t be able to wear a sock with them. I’m returning for a bigger size. I wear a 9, bought a 9, now sizing up to a 10 since they run in full sizes only.

Great purchase

Bought these for my Iceland trip and I love them! They kept my feet warm and dry and didnt hurt my feet walking all day in them. I usually wear womens 9.5 but needed 10 in these. That being said they are not the fastest to put on and take off but worth it in every other aspect. This site shipped them easy, fast, and for the best price when I was looking.

Amazing feel - like Warm BUTTER - BUY IT

I have to say TNF got it right with these boots! I squealed when I tried them on for the first time right now, as if they were custom made for my foot. We all know waterproof winter boots can sometimes feel like wearing cinder blocks and we give up comfort for features... NOT these. Please bear in mind I ordered them in summer and have not fully tried them out for warmth yet but when I felt the fit and the BEST FEATURE of all, which is the fact that they have extra foam padding sewn inside of the liner all around the ankle, I was thrilled. This gives comfort but also prevents the long shaft from bunging up and causing irritation which can also be common. So it is JULY in N.Y. and I am praying for snow because I simply cannot wait to wear these and give them a whirl in a storm. I am a FT dog-walker/pet-sitter by trade and I am outside in the elements ALL DAY EVERY DAY. I will check back in and update my review in December because I would look pretty silly trudging around in these in July, but for now I say THANK YOU TNF and Backcountry for letting my get my hands on these hotcakes!!! December add on thoughts: Now that I have used them this winter of '19 two times... Still love them to pieces for their comfort and still the second best pair of winter boots I have ever owned in my life. 2 important comments though: My toes got VERY cold very easily due to the rubberized front. Even though there is good insulation my toes got cold in 30 degree weather, and, secondly, the amount of sole between the ball of your foot and the pavement seems thin. Midsole and heel are fine just the front seem to have a lack of thick outsole and cushioning. I pound the pavement pretty hard as a dog walker andI would have loved another 1/4 inch of insulation or rubber. I would still buy them again and they will be my go to this year (perhaps with a second pair of socks or liners) Happy Winter Y'all !!

These boots fit great. They are really waterproof. The rubber sole is actually really comfy and has a little bit of detail so they look good. I feel they are versatile. Would consider buying again

Amazing Winter Boot

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I love these so much. I needed a solid boot to tramp around the mountains with and my old Sorels were just a tad too small and my toes felt it. These are wonderful. They fit true to size. I got them in an 8 and usually wear a 7.5 in street shoes, but I like to go a bit up in boots because I wear thick socks with them. The rubber keeps my feet dry, and if my feet every feel hot I can just untie them a bit to allow airflow. They are stuff however and not the best boot to drive in. But that's what I want in a winter boot because it means good support.

Light and functional

These have been fantastic for wet and cold weather and even though you technically shouldn't hike in them, I did and they performed very well. We were hiking in snow and crampons would have been beneficial at times, but I had very little trouble navigating steep or icy trails. I liked how light these were and I never felt they weighed me down. Dry feet even walking in deep snow. Very happy with these boots.

Go to boot

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Purchased for my mom for Christmas. This is her go to boot for everything outdoors when it is wet and cold. She walks the dog 3 miles on the golf course every day. These keep her feet warm and dry. Easy to clean the goose poop off of them and that is a big issue for her.

LOVE these boots!

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Was searching high and low for a stylish snow boot! I ordered up a half size (8.5) from my normal size (8) after reading the reviews. I wish I wouldn’t have done that, I ended up ordering my regular size and returning the others. They do fit a little snug but I wouldn’t size up unless you have a wide foot. I’d consider my foot to be average width/ a little more wide then the average. So only order a half size up if you know your foot is very wide.

OBSESSED

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I've been searching high and low for a lighter-weight waterproof winter boot with support that would keep me warm, and that I could wear out and about, at work in a craft brewery, walking my monster dogs in the Wisconsin winter without biffing it, etc. I'm currently 6 months pregnant and the old boots I've been looking to replace have been absolute murder on my back. I was a little apprehensive when I took these boots out of the box because they were reeeeally cute - and usually when I snag something cute the functionality and quality leave much to be desired. But when I slipped them on - I almost cried (thanks hormones). I was shocked at how soft, warm and supportive they were! I've worn them all day every single day since pulling them out of the box, and I couldn't be happier with them. I'm a little bit more rough and tumble on boots than the average wearer so I don't expect these to last several years, but if they even last a year I would 100% buy another pair in a heartbeat. They do run a little snug - I sized up a half size and they're perfect with thin and medium thickness wool socks.

I don't know what biffing it means but I strongly concur with this review! They fit so perfectly true to size and the comfort level is out of this world. Hello to your dogs from a NY dog walker! TNF rules!!!

Snug fit

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

These boots run small. I ordered a size 7.0 and they were snug. Exchanged them for a 7.5. They fit better but these boots are for a narrow foot. If you have a narrow foot, do not buy these boots. I can say, they are stylish, a very nice boot!

Good looking but not durable

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

This shoe has good traction and looks decent. But its not long lasting at all. Mine wore out in a year. Less than 2 seasons of just snow use, there was a hole in the sole of 1 boot and the other boot, the hole almost on it way. Water fills up and its no longer waterproof. So, the money is not worth the durability. Northface doesn't cover anything beyond a year, no matter how little you used it.

This

Hi Shreya. Sorry you had this problem as I am new to these boots and cannot say but I was wondering if you have ever looked into inserts for foot pronation? The uneven wear here is showing that this foot pronates outward a lot (a common problem, my right foot does it as well) ! The inserts can help you feel better, by realigning your leg and foot, as well as help all of your footwear last longer because they will wear out more evenly, the way they are meant to. Its a $25 fix and can be inserted in all types of footwear. Good luck! Keep on sending out helpful reviews for all. As a consumer I appreciate the time you took. - Lin

all aspects i was looking for - lightweight, slush-proof, good looking, insulated, not too wide in heel ... wonderful!, yet couldn't deny my need for more space in forefoot (neuroma sufferer if too snug there) ... bummed, and still looking ...

These are well made boots unfortunately they weren't comfy on my legs. I would definitely recommend these to anyone that has lots of winter weather or if you are outdoors a lot in the cold.

What temperature are these boots rated to? -20, -40?

Unfortunately, The North Face does not temperature rate their footwear or clothing.

Size I am a size five in regular shoes, this is my first time ordering snow boots. Should I order a six instead? Thanks!

Hey, Marla - Thanks so much for reaching out with your question. These do run "true to size," so I think a size 5 or maybe a size 5.5 would work. If you want to wear a thicker pair of socks, the 6 might fit, but you will likely be more comfortable in a boot that fits well without a large sock. I have some ideas in mind, feel free to get in contact with me so we can discuss!
