    Purist Jacket

Prepare yourself for cold boot packs on ridges, deep powder turns, and storms in the backcountry with The North Face Purist jacket. This shell is built for riding resorts, backcountry, and everything else that comes with a long winter spent outdoors. The key to this coverage is the 3L Gore-Tex fabric that keeps snow and water off of your precious layers while still allowing excess heat and moisture to sneak out so you don't feel like you are hiking in a sauna.

The Purist is packed with additional features that provide comfort and protection. To further keep out wind and snow this jacket features a stretch powder skirt, jacket-to-pant integration, and a helmet-compatible hybrid drop hood. On top of this, expanding pockets hold your skins and other large items with ease while a hyper articulated fit and increased stretch in the fabric make sure you can move with ease whether you are riding, hiking, or skinning.

    • Technical shell for skiing and riding in the worst conditions
    • Gore-Tex outer is waterproof and breathable to keep you dry
    • Increased stretch in the fabric keeps you moving comfortably
    • Helmet compatible hood keeps out big wind gusts and snow squalls
    • Stretch powder skirt keeps out unwanted snow on blower powder days
    • Zip access to bib or mid layer keeps you covered while you adjust
    • Hyperarticulated fit is made with skiing and snowboarding in mind

    Great winter protection

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 6'2"
    • Weight: 240lbs

If you don't understand what the different types of waterproofing mean, understand that this one is legit. With the Goretex material, I laid down in the snow for a quick break after an awesome 2-mile snowshoe sesh! Nothing will get through this jacket. Make sure to wear a good base and mid layer since this has no insulation!

I also found the sleeves to be a bit long but if you have a huge layer underneath the extra layer will come in handy!

Bought this for an all purpose jacket and end of season storms. Performed spectacular in some wet late season powder. The gore Tex she’ll repelled precip like it was nothing and I stayed dry all day. The material definitely seems pretty durable too. Went with a large and it is a nice fit slightly long on my torso to help keep the snow out.

    Awesome Shell!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I took this shell out on a trip with me to Japan and it ruled! it's super waterproof and lightweight. It also breaths surprisingly well! it has plenty of pocket options and looks good enough to wear out to the bar after snowboarding.

    Outstanding Ski Shell

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'8"
    • Weight: 145lbs

This is an outstanding shell for skiing. I've worn it on storm days skiing in powder and on bluebird days skiing on groomers and this jacket is perfect. The pockets are uniquely placed and well thought out. The color schemes look great and will make you stand out at the resort. As for construction and durability, I expect this jacket to last for years. I can not recommend this jacket enough!

    10 year jacket

Wow this jacket is amazing, the build quality is is second to non and really worth the cash. I matched this jacket with TNF bibs and the fit is perfect. Take care of this piece and it will last you a decade!

I guess I got the purple memo and it looks so good! Fit is awesome and I have used this a total of about 30 times already this season, has kept me dry on the deepest days. 3 layer gore is also bomb proof and has a ton of great pockets! The pass pocket on the sleeve is just awesome! Also love the collar, all the way zipped up, keeps the winds out and helps keep you warm. Feels less bulky than the fuse brigandine too. Which I did come from and got rid of in favor of this jacket. If I can help out with your jacket, feel free to reach out.

    Super Shell

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: medium
    • Height: 5'8"
    • Weight: 150lbs

Awesome shell jacket that keeps you dry on the deepest of days. Had a chance to try it out for 2 weeks and I was quite impressed. Lots of internal and external pockets for you lift pass, snacks, phone, ect. It's a 3-layer gore-tex shell and I was able to use it on 3 powder days without getting wet at all. The fit was somewhat surprising for me. I usually am a size small jacket in TNF gear, but i found that the medium was more comfortable and accommodating when wearing my puffer jacket as an insulating layer. As far as I'm concerned, you cannot go wrong with this jacket in regards to function, or appearance. It's great!

    Bomber Jacket

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: L
    • Height: 6'2"
    • Weight: 215lbs

This jacket is awesome. I was pleasantly surprised. So many pockets and small unique details that I have never seen in another ski jacket. Mesh vents inside of shell vents - genius. The goggle wipe built into the forearm pocket, awesome. The material is thick but the jacket is still lightweight and has plenty of mobility. The more freeride fit, with a longer center back length and longer arms which is great to keep you under full coverage. The jacket comes up to my nose to cover any cold winds or snow from getting in on a blower pow day. The neck felt a little too high for what I like, but I see the benefit of it. The purple color is awesome, and I got plenty of compliments on it.

    Best Ski Jacket I've Used

If anything this jacket performs even better than it looks, which is saying something; I got multiple compliments on the looks of the jacket on my first day wearing it. It's definitely on the longer side, which I like. It isn't quite as long as the Fuse Brigandine jacket from North Face, but the back of the jacket easily covers my bum whether I'm sitting or skiing. There is plenty of venting as well, both in the chest and the armpits, and the pockets are super roomy. The material feels really burly and durable, but at the same time it somehow still feels light. The hood has plenty of room and articulation to use while wearing a helmet, and the front of the jacket easily covers your mouth when fully zipped, so for white-out days this jacket has you covered.
